Description:
Papadum is a popular Indian (North & South) cracker, sometimes also referred to as a crisp flat bread.

Papadum is made from flour, normally black gram bean flour (Vigna Mungo / Urad), lentil flour, chickpea flour, potato flour or rice flour.

The flour is made into a dough, and salt and peanut oil is added. Sometimes, spices such as black pepper, chili, garlic or cumin seeds are included as seasonings, along with baking soda or slaked lime.

Once dried, the Papadum can be cooked in a variety of ways. Deep frying produces a crisp texture, while toasting results in a softer, moist texture.

Papadum is often served as a snack or appetizer, along with chutney, rice or various dips. It can be served at either the start, or the end of a meal.
