The Night Safari Singapore is a unique, no-to-be-missed experience! It's extremely rare to get close to nocturnal wildlife in their natural habitats, and the Night Safari Singapore creates that sort of experience for visitors.

The highlights of Night Safari Singapore include the tram ride, which brings you into nocturnal animal enclosures that you wouldn't be able to access on foot, due to safety. The trams run continually till 11pm, and a trip takes around 30 minutes to complete. Each nocturnal animal enclosure is introduced by the tram operator and guide, along with an explanation on why the particular animal is fascinating. They also share about wildlife and habitat conservation efforts. I found it informative and interesting.

Other highlights of the Night Safari Singapore include the fire-breathing, fire-eating Thumbuakar Performance at 7pm, 8pm and 9pm. And the Creatures Of The Night Show at 7.30pm, 8.30pm and 9.30pm, with an additional show at 10.30pm on weekends and public holidays. Be prepared for a few surprises during the show!

Half of the Night Safari Singapore can be explored on foot, via the 4 inter-connected walking trails. For safety, the trails are linear in nature, and visitors can't wander off the path, as marshals are stationed at major tram crossing points. The trails allow you to get close to some animal enclosures that are not accessable by tram, as well as view some animals from a distance. All 4 walking trails can be completed in about 1 - 2 hours.

I think part of the appeal of the Night Safari Singapore, because of its one-of-a-kind in the world, up close and personal encounters with nocturnal animals in their natural habitats, is the immersive experience. Bats flutter around you in the Naracoorte Cave. Hiking along the walking trails in the cool night air and near total darkness, surrounded on each side by rainforest, with only a few path lights to illuminate your way, and no other humans in sight. Hearing the sounds of insects and animals before you come upon the enclosures. Somehow, all your senses are more aware, more acute... more alive. The Night Safari Singapore makes you feel like you're miles away from civilisation.

If you're planning a visit, do note that admission fees cost $32, inclusive of the tram ride, and allocate around 2 to 4 hours for viewing. If you're planning to take photographs, bring a camera that has an adjustable shutter setting for low light / night time, as flash photography is strictly prohibited, and staff will enforce this rule.
