Penang locals tell me that there are actually 2 Chinese Recreation Club (CRC) Restaurant, the original at the club itself, and the new outlet opposite the street. However, the quality of the food differs greatly, as the old master chef still presides over the original kitchen, while the new branch opposite the street is helmed by a new chef. As such, the food quality at the original Chinese Recreation Club (CRC) Restaurant is much better and tastier.

Ambience is somewhat limited at Chinese Recreation Club (CRC) Restaurant. The place is decorated quite nicely, as per most traditional chinese restaurants, just that the decor is dated.

Service is rather average... Staff of Chinese Recreation Club (CRC) Restaurant aren't that attentive, although food is served very quickly.

The food at Chinese Recreation Club (CRC) Restaurant is really good! I especially liked the Steamed Assam Lime Sea Bass Fish, with its tangy, sour taste, and the Curry Prawns were very tasty and addictive! The curry was especially good with the hand-made buns (Mantou).

Total bill came up to less than MYR $170, for 8 people sharing 5 medium-sized dishes. Extremely cheap, considering we had 2 seafood dishes (Fish And Prawns)! This amount we paid at Chinese Recreation Club (CRC) Restaurant was probably the cheapest restaurant bill during my Penang trip.

I would definitely visit Chinese Recreation Club (CRC) Restaurant again next time I'm in Penang... Hope to get better pictures!
