A popular Italian restaurant, Spizza attracts the crowds with their thin crust, wood-fired pizzas, big and bold flavours, and affordable pricing. I'm impressed that Spizza is able to keep prices slightly lower than other Italian restaurants, despite using specially crafted wood-fired ovens, importing their ingredients from Italy, and hand-making some items in-house.

Ambience at Spizza is casual and laid-back, with the feel of a rustic, countryside farm. Decor is minimal, but features clean lines and strategic lighting. Several outlets have outdoor dining, which I feel is preferable to their indoor dining, as some of their outlets have a small indoor floor space, and it tends to be more cramped.

Spizza staff are professional and efficient, though the younger / newer staff have trouble with menu / product knowledge. In general, I find the service at Spizza to be good, and staff are able to handle special requests well.

Spizza is known for their extensive range of thin crust pizzas, as well as their cooking method of wood-firing. Besides pizza, they also serve popular Italian antipasti, appetizers, desserts and pasta dishes. Food at Spizza features fresh ingredients which carry big taste. I also like that they make some of their pasta fresh in-house.

Spizza also offers delivery islandwide in Singapore. In the catergory of the gourmet pizza delivery, Spizza is among the best and most affordable choices in Singapore, with a relatively short waiting time of about 1 hour. (Gourmet pizza takes a longer time to prepare than fast food pizza).

Condiments



The Beef Carpaccio with Rucola Salad and shaved Parmesan Cheese has nice, thinly sliced beef with a light marinade of lemon juice and olive oil. Slight twist on the vegetables, with rucola instead of the standard arugula. This traditional Italian dish is a good appetizer to start off the meal.

The Portobello Al Forno features an oven baked portobello mushroom cap topped with bolognese meat sauce and taleggio cheese. A popular traditional Italian dish, this is also the restaurant's most popular appetizer. The mushrooms are tender and juicy, and the meat sauce has the right consistency of thickness and meatiness that satisfies.

The Rebecca Pizza consists of a white pizza base with mozzarella, gorgonzola, ham, rucola and sun-dried tomatoes. Nice balance of ingredients, with a savoury and slightly salty mouth feel, with a burst of freshness from the vegetables. Easy to see why it's one of the more popular pizza here.

The Ursula Pizza consists of a pizza base topped with tomato, mascarpone, spinach, smoked salmon and capers. The smoked salmon and capers lend a burst of briny saltiness to each bite of the pizza. Nice, but a little overwhelming in a large quantity.

The Tiramisu here is a house made special, and is rich and decadent. Really good! Differs from the traditional Italian dessert with the use of sponge cake instead of biscuit fingers.

The Calamari squid rings feature large, fresh, meaty squid. However, the batter is equal parts crisp and soggy, and peels off the squid too easily. But I like their home made salsa which is served as a dipping sauce here.

The Gnocchi has balls of that famous Italian pasta, cooked together with a generous portion of sliced ham and gorgonzola cheese in a metal pan with cream sauce. The result is a salty, savoury, overall tasty dish, rather heavy on the palate, with the cream taking on the flavour of the cheese, making it stand out. Good!

A solid Panna Cotta rendition, the texture of the pudding is slightly firm, akin to a touch of heavy cream in texture, steady yet still wobbly enough. A tropical mango sauce and sliced strawberries complete this above average dessert.

Loved the runny eggs in the middle of the Tara Pizza, topped with button mushrooms, mozzarella cheese, and smoky bacon on a tomato sauce base. Spread the soft boiled eggs over the pizza before eating for maximum delight!
