Part of the famous Nick's Waterfront Dining chain of restaurants, Cyren was founded by Nick Manettas in the late 1970s. Recently re-invented and modernised, Cyren at Harbourside Mall offers a fantastic view of Darling Harbour, and is a great place for a leisurely meal and drinks with family / friends. I stumbled upon Cyren quite by chance while exploring the area, and I'm glad I decided to give them a try!

Indoor ambience at Cyren is spacious with minimal decor and an open show kitchen. Furniture is rustic-looking and comfortable, and nautical themed decor like pebbles and ropes adorn the walls. Lighting is dim in most spots, with several tables having specific bright lights. Exterior dining at Cyren offers views of the waterfront, though wet weather may pose a problem.

I find the service at Cyren to be excellent. Staff are friendly and polite, able to make suggestions, and are knowledgable about the menu. They also check for diners feedback, once during the meal, and again after the meal. Food is prepared quickly, despite the crowd, I never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be served.

Cyren is considered a fine-dining restaurant, so food is presented beautifully. Ingredients are fresh, and dishes are tasty and flavourful. I must commend the skill of the chefs at Cyren, I've yet to have any component of a dish that I could complain about. Such good quality also commands a high price, as dining at Cyren will easily cost SGD $60 / AUD $50 per person without wine, and SGD $120 / AUD $100 per person with wine.

Overall, Cyren is a fantastic place for dining, provided you're willing to spend.





With a large spacious interior, exterior waterfront dining, an open show kitchen, and nautical themed minimalist decor, this is a great place to chill out, eat, and drink in the evenings and on weekends.

The Beef Steak Angus 220gm Prime Fillet is tender, juicy, and well grilled. This is quite a thick and filling cut of meat. They offer a choice of various sizes for the cuts, as well as a choice of sides (mashed potato or fries), and a choice of 4 different types of sauce (button mushroom sauce, bearnaise sauce, peppercorn sauce, or red wine with madeira jus). The most popular combination is Mashed Potatoes And Button Mushroom Sauce. The mashed potatoes is thick, but quite smooth and not lumpy, while the button mushroom sauce is savoury with a slight sweetness.

The Chargrilled Kangaroo Loin is tender, with a bit of chew, and a slightly gamey flavour. The meat is slightly tougher as compared to beef. Served with a fantastic, savoury Smoked Aubergine Puree, Mashed Potato and a Sweet Tomato And Macadamia Jus.
