Established in July 1994 by Makoto Yamaguchi in Naganuma, Sorachi, Hokkaido, Japan, the dual-named Naganuma Ice / Icenoie opened an international outlet in Singapore in December 2018. Naganuma Ice / Icenoie, whose name translates to 'The House Of Ice Cream', is popularly known for their range of exquisite soft serve ice cream and gelato flavours, all made with 100% Hokkaido raw milk and cage-free eggs.

Ambience at Naganuma Ice / Icenoie is dependent on its surroundings. As a pure takeaway kiosk, there is no seating. However, the place has ample natural greenery, and lots of sunlight. The gelato display looks appetizing, but overall, the shop has a minimalist vibe.

Service at Naganuma Ice / Icenoie is polite and efficient. During our visit, the only staff were the Japanese chefs on duty, who spoke little English, but could understand simple English phrases. We could still communicate, with the help of gestures and pointing. They allow for sampling of flavours before you decide.

Sampled the Gelato Cone - Fresh Milk Gelato, Haskap Yogur Gelato (SGD $7). The Gelato Cone has a soft crunch to texture, with a light grainy flat flavour, and serves as little more than a foil to the excellent gelato.

The Fresh Milk Gelato has a rich, creamy smooth texture, with bold milky sweet flavour from the raw milk, that is so refreshing. The Haskap Yogur Gelato has a rich, creamy smooth texture, with delicate fruity sweet sour flavour from the haskap berry / sweetberry honeysuckle yoghurt, that is so light, seemingly like a sorbet.

Sampled the Soft Serve Parfait - Ebisu Pumpkin Soft Serve, Red Wine Soft Serve, With Fresh Cream, Butter Biscuits, Matcha Sauce (SGD $8.50). The toppings can be customised, I got the crunchy sweet butter biscuits, the airy creamy fresh milk cream, and the grassy sweet matcha / green tea sauce as toppings. Finished with a crisp chocolate and peanut wafer biscuit.

The parfait is limited to only 1 flavour each time, but staff relented and created a swirl for me. The Ebisu Pumpkin Soft Serve ice cream has a rich, creamy silky soft texture, with delicate earthy sweet flavour from the ebisu pumpkin / kabocha squash, that is fairly mellow. The Red Wine Soft Serve ice cream has a rich, creamy silky soft texture, with mild fruity sweet flavour from the red grapes, that is so bright and enticing. Note that despite the name, this contains absolutely no alcohol and is alcohol-free.

The Creme Brulee Soft Serve (SGD $8) is a decadent desset concoction, with rich milk soft serve ice cream, topped with Japanese milk custard and brown sugar crystals, then torched in front of you. Served in a crisp waffle cone, this made-to-order dessert has robust milky sweet flavour, with a luscious, creamy silky soft texture. Good!
