Opened in May 2023 by the same team behind Maxi Coffee Bar, Wildcard is a modern coffee and wine concept cafe and bar. A bright and cheery space, Wildcard is an oasis to escape to. We spent a good morning just relaxing and chatting here.

Ambience at Wildcard is bright and spacious, with ample natural light. The modern wooden furnishing is neatly arrayed around the curvature of the plain white walls, while an open bar and kitchen commands one end of the deep hall. The high ceiling and private corners lend a sense of space and privacy respectively.

Service at Wildcard is friendly and polite. Staff are quick to greet and seat guests, and demonstrate good product knowledge in describing their dishes. They also introduce dishes as they serve, and are able to recommend beverages. Payment is self-service over the counter. I note they clean up quickly when diners leave.

Food at Wildcard is Modern Singaporean cuisine, created by Head Chef Ahmir Arshad. The range of dishes is small and focused, but the result is that every dish is well-executed and delicious. Portions are sized for individuals, but can be shared. Prices are reflective of a typical gastrobar, budget about SGD $21 per person.

The Flat White (SGD $6) has a medium thick strength of body, with a toasty milky earthy sweet nutty flavour and creamy smooth texture. Beautifully precise coffee art too. The coffee beans are sourced from Ijen Lestari in Indonesia.

The Dirty (SGD $8) features a double shot of espresso poured directly over chilled milk, creating the signature messy marbling visual effect as it's served. Strong toasty milky earthy sweet flavour, with a thin and rounded texture.

The house Grilled Banana Bread (SGD $8) is a signature item. The square block of grilled banana bread is soft moist fluffy in texture, carrying bright fruity sweet bready flavour. It's dressed with creamy whipped ricotta cheese and thick apricot jam (creating a visual effect of a sunny side up egg), lending a beautiful contrast of milky cheesy fruity sweet sour flavour, tempting the palate for more. Highly recommended!

The Oxtail Donut (SGD $13) is unique and tasty. Shreds of tender braised beef oxtail ragout are filled within a fluffy spherical doughnut, glazed with a thick espresso infused barbecue gravy, and topped with crunchy bone marrow crumbs and crisp spring onions. This has a robust smoky meaty bready sweet earthy savoury salty flavour, yum. Feels really rich and decadent. Highly recommended!

The Prawn Sando (SGD $24) is more a burger than a sando / sandwich. Within fluffy soft milk burger buns, is a thick tender prawn katsu patty, crisp lettuce, and chunky chilled celeriac remoulade, with a creamy fermented chili aioli. Cut in, and you reveal the luscious cross-section. This has lovely meaty sweet vegetal herbal sour spice flavour. Good!
