Skechers operates over 5,200 stores across 180 countries, and their popularity is due to their long-lasting, affordable, and comfortable shoes.

Offering a wide range of styles from casual to sports, Skechers shoes blends innovative comfort and technology. The air-cooled memory foam insoles provides cushioning and breathability, keeping feet cool and comfortable. The patented arch fit technology developed with podiatrists offers certified foot support, while the slip-in technology design with comfort pillow at the heel enables convenience by allowing customers to slip shoes on effortlessly.

Skechers has also positioned itself as an inclusive brand, and their focus on comfort, style, and affordability, resonates with a diverse customer base. Skechers footwear looks good, is durable, and feels great to wear. My recent purchases at SGD $75 per pair of shoes is a fantastic deal, and reinforces my belief in Skechers.

Update 15-Dec-2023: TL;DR - Undandy has seemingly ceased operations and / or gone bankrupt. They owe worldwide customers nearly 2 years worth of unfulfilled orders and refunds. Angry public feedback on multiple channels. Undandy customer service email addresses are offline, but their website is still live. Buyer Beware.

On 25-July-2022, I placed an order for 3 pairs of customised shoes from Undandy. As of 15-December-2023, I have neither received the order, nor received any refund of the SGD $612 I paid. Following 15 email chasers across the last 1.5 years, they replied up till 03-June-2023, and since then have been silent. Now, we've discovered their customer service email addresses are offline and have been de-registered.

However, their website and social media channels are still live, and it's technically still possible to make purchases, so buyer beware - you're highly unlikely to receive your order or any refund. I understand some banks have already begun to block payments to Undandy. It also seems Undandy employees were unfairly treated and released, with some being owed salaries. The online community of Undandy customers are livid, but there appears to be little recourse.

I still have 5 pairs of Undandy shoes from earlier purchases, and they are some of the best fashion footwear I own... a real pity it's come to this.

Founded in 2002 by Mr Tan Guan Huat, Heatwave Shoes is a Singaporean footwear brand that has since gone international. Specialising in simple, elegant, or fashion-forward footwear, Heatwave Shoes is known for their wide range of designs, anti-slip soles, and affordable pricing.

Heatwave Shoes promises footwear for ladies that are comfortable and lightweight. Their iconic anti-slip soles was invented in-house, and provides additional support and flexibility for feet. Each pair of shoes is crafted by hand, made with simple processes that take no more than 8 people for manufacturing.

Heatwave Shoes is also known for their vast, ever-changing range of designs. New designs of footwear arrive in stores every 1 - 2 weeks, and each month's range of designs are made according to a specific theme or season. This results in dynamic, fashionable footwear that is in step with the latest global trends, with designs ranging from casual everyday footwear, to formal business footwear, and everything else in between!

Now I personally don't use footwear from Heatwave Shoes, but friends who do rave about the brand and their designs. Durability seems to be a concern though, a pair of heels seems to last at most 4 - 6 months before falling apart. Still, the rather affordable prices at Heatwave Shoes means you'll always have new designs to show off.

Named after founder Aldo Bensadoun, the Aldo Group is a Canadian mid-range footwear and accessories company that sells formal and casual shoes for both men and women. Aldo is known for their extensive range of designs, which are rotated relatively frequently.

Because of their huge range of designs, footwear from Aldo can span both classic, timeless looks, to fashion forward styles. Designs are introduced to coincide with the fashion seasons and trends, while older designs are phased out relatively quickly at around 3 months or so. While prices can start as low as SGD $20, the highest price is about SGD $200, with average prices for a pair of footwear costing SGD $100 or so.

I like the designs for formal business shoes at Aldo. Quality is rather durable, with the average lifespan for men's formal business shoes around 8 - 12 months. Casual shoes can last around 10 - 18 months. Aldo footwear is slightly more durable than other brands. In general, the heel of an Aldo shoe tends to wear out first.

Comfort for Aldo shoes is somewhat below average though. While comfort for the heel and sole is good, some designs cause the ankle to rub against the skin, or else the shoe is too snug and grips your foot. To prevent future discomfort, ensure that you properly test a pair of Aldo shoes before purchasing. Alternatively, purchase 1 size larger than what you normally wear.

Aldo also deals with unisex accessories, though the range isn't extensive. The formal business belts for men from Aldo have sleek looking, classic designs, but the buckle isn't eye-catching. Their fragrance is relatively unknown as a brand, and not very popular. Their designs for ladies handbags are pretty trendy and eye-catching, and affordably priced as well.

Crocs is an American shoe manufacturer that produces and distributes casual unisex shoes, and specialises in clog designs. Crocs shoes are made with a patented closed cell foam resin, known as Croslite, which offers great comfort and support to a wearer's feet, and supposedly offers various medical benefits. Because of this, Crocs became a popular brand, despite criticisms that its clog designs were clunky, unfashionable, and ugly.

Originally designed as a clog to be worn indoors, the patented foam resin material Crocs is made from was also discovered to be resistant to water, sand, mud, and dirt. Thus, Crocs footwear also functions well outdoors, and today, most people use their Crocs as an outdoor, rather than indoor, footwear. Designs for Crocs usually come in many colours, with their classic clogs available in over 10 colours, and most other footwear designs available in a range of 4 to 6 colours or dual colour combinations.

Crocs has also tried to increase the fashion appeal of its footwear, by marketing various accessories that clip on to the ventilation holes in their shoes. This appeals mostly to children and ladies. A known safety hazard of Crocs shoes is children who are wearing a pair of Crocs and standing near the side of an escalator. There is an increased risk of the Crocs getting caught in the escalator due to the small size of their feet and the soft material of the shoes.

Prices for a pair of Crocs are expensive, with men's footwear costing slightly more than women's footwear. A pair for men costs around SGD $40 - $150, while a pair for ladies costs around SGD $30 - $100. A pair of Crocs is rather durable, with a life span of around 12 - 24 months. While I find their clog designs to be comfortable and great to wear, I experienced friction burn / chafing of my ankle with their covered sneakers, and thus, I won't recommend it.

Havaianas is a popular flip flop / slipper brand from Brazil, despite its name being a reference to Hawaii, America. The original design for Havaianas was inspired by a traditional Japanese footwear called a Zori, which was made with rice straw soles and fabric straps. Today, Havaianas incoporates a textured rice pattern into its flip flops as a tribute to their inspiration.

The appeal of Havaianas lies with their incredible range of colours, designs, and patterns, with something for every taste. Designs for Havaianas are also rotated quite frequently, with inspirations drawn from beach culture, street culture, youth culture, sports culture, or pop culture. Rubber is the material used in producing a pair of Havaianas.

Another part of their appeal is the range of sizes, catering to all types of foot size, which ensures you're able to find a pair that can comfortably fit you. Havaianas are also known to be quite durable for a flip flop / slipper, as the typical life span is 6 to 12 months (or 2600 km), and the straps don't loosen easily, even with daily use.

As a company, Havaianas is eco-friendly. Any scraps of rubber used during their production process will be recycled and used to make a new pair of flip flops.

Pedro is a well-known global fashion brand that sells footwear consisting of formal shoes and casual shoes, as well as accessories like belts, bags and wallets for both men and women. As a brand, Pedro can be considered an upper mid-range / low-end high-range brand, with a recognized brand name, and prices that are still affordable for most, but definitely isn't considered a luxury brand.

I like the modern and elegant look that most of the footwear, or shoes, sold by Pedro have. Designs are quite stylish and eye-catching, with a blend of classic and contemporary styles, and the range is quite extensive. Pedro updates their designs according to the fashion seasons, and old designs are phased out rather quickly over 6 months or so. Some of their designs can be rather bold and loud though.

Pedro shoes / footwear is rather comfortable, and I never had any discomfort wearing either the formal business shoes or the casual shoes. The durability of Pedro shoes is quite lasting as well, with formal business shoes lasting about 6 - 12 months, and casual shoes lasting about 12 - 18 months. The first thing to wear down on Pedro footwear is generally the sole.

Because of the brand name and quality, Pedro footwear isn't cheap. For men, formal business shoes cost around SGD $100 - $200, while casual shoes cost around SGD $90 - $180. If you spend at least SGD $200 in 1 reciept, you can opt to sign up for Pedro membership, which will give you discounts on subsequent purchases.

The Pedro belt collection for men is rather limited, but the few designs they have are quite attractive and eye-catching. A belt from Pedro lasts around 1 year plus or so, and costs around SGD $70 - $130. Personally, I prefer their formal business belts, in a black colour, with a solid square buckle and catch.

Will possibly try out Pedro bags and wallets sometime!
