Founded in September 2014 by serial entrepreneur Norvan Tan, BlackOut Singapore was the first casual footwear fashion brand that allowed customers to customise the design of their sandals or slippers / flip-flops. Popular amongst the young, young at heart, and casual fashion aficionados, BlackOut Singapore is the founder's 4th business venture, and sees steady business both online and at their stores.

The concept for BlackOut Singapore is fairly simple, but beautiful in execution. Choose your size, then choose your casual footwear design, either sandals, slippers / flip-flops, or slip-ons. There's a variety of 13 designs and 5 colours for the base sole. Finally, choose the design of your straps, with up to 12 colours to pick from. This enables unique, personalised, casual footwear creations that speak to an individual's fashion sense.

The material of their footwear renders it durable and waterproof, with anti-slip surfaces. This makes it safe to wear in wet weather. Customising your footwear takes less than 15 minutes, the BlackOut Singapore staff are helpful and knowledgeable, able to offer recommendations, and work efficiently to craft each order. Prices are fairly affordable for customised footwear, budget about SGD $20 - $35 per person for a pair.

I understand from BlackOut Singapore that their footwear has an average lifespan of about 2 years or slightly more. Although they use European sizing, the actual cut differs slightly, as such, it's best to physically try on the size you want. I only wish that BlackOut Singapore would increase the padding thickness of their soles for added comfort while walking, but that said, this is decently comfortable as is.

Quite pleased with my Cross Black x Light Green x Yellow (SGD $29), which was crafted in less than 15 minutes. Decently comfortable, although I wished the soles had slightly thicker padding for greater comfort.
