Opened in December 2024, T.E Mookata Buffet is a casual Thai barbecue and steamboat concept that has since expanded to 4 outlets across Singapore. The combination of affordable prices, wide range of quality ingredients, communal experience of cooking together with family or friends, and quick casual ambience, has made T.E Mookata Buffet a popular spot.

Ambience at T.E Mookata Buffet reflects the communal spirit of mookata dining, with functional modern furniture, bright lights, and a gentle aroma of sizzling meats wafting through the space. The straightforward, buzzing, fuss‑free atmosphere is inviting. The display of ingredients is well laid out and clean, and it's easy to help yourself.

Service at T.E Mookata Buffet operates on a self‑service model. Staff do help you set up the mookata grill, and clean up when you're done, but otherwise, everything else is self service, from helping yourself to ingredients, to collecting cutlery or top-ups of soup / broth. This lean model also helps keep prices low.

Food at T.E Mookata Buffet is classic Thai mookata, with the combination grill plus steamboat powered by butane gas canisters. For about SGD $23 per person, the unlimited buffet offers a wide selection of fresh and frozen ingredients, including some meats seasoned in classic Thai marinades. From the Ready-To-Eat Selection, meant to fill at the start of your meal as your ingredients are slowly grilling or boiling, we had the tender chunky Seaweed Chicken with vegetal salty meaty savoury earthy flavour, the springy bouncy Fish Ball with sweet savoury salty flavour, and the crisp soft Fried Fish Paste Dumpling with grainy sweet savoury flavour. Worth ordering!

From the Vegetable Selection, we had the crunchy Napa Cabbage with vegetal sweet flavour, the bouncy Trumpet Mushroom with vegetal earthy savoury flavour, the crunchy Golden Mushroom with vegetal earthy sweet flavour, the crisp Bok Choy / Chinese Cabbage with vegetal sweet flavour, and the crisp Lettuce with vegetal sweet flavour. All fresh and nice. Good!

From the premium Seafood Selection, we had an assortment of fresh and frozen seafood, though when boiled or grilled, the state is negligible. The bouncy Squid Ring has neutral flavour, the tender White Clams has briny salty sweet flavour, the tender Black Mussels has briny salty savoury flavour, and the bouncy Quail Egg has eggy sweet savoury flavour. The soft tender Snakehead Fish Fillet has sweet savoury flavour, the bouncy Scallop has meaty sweet savoury flavour, the springy Lobster Ball has sweet savoury salty flavour, and the bouncy Cheese Tofu has grainy sweet cheesy salty flavour. The juicy Fish Egg Roe Ball bursts with briny salty earthy sweet flavour, the bouncy Squid Ball has sweet savoury salty flavour, and the tender soft Flower Crab claw has meaty sweet flavour. Good!

Good!

The Meat Black Pepper Selection has a trio of cuts of meat, marinated in a punchy and thick black pepper gravy. The result is a burst of added peppery spice flavour to the natural flavours of the meat, which lingers on the palate and lends a slight burning sensation. Good!
