The famed Madame Tussauds Wax Museum from London, England, has been capturing the imagination of the public for over 250 years. Opening a branch in Sentosa in October 2014, the Sentosa Madame Tussauds Singapore allows visitors to get up close and personal with life-like wax figures of the famous and powerful. Featuring 8 themed zones, visitors have the opportunity to see, touch, and interact with the exhibits in Madame Tussauds Singapore.
The layout of Madame Tussauds Singapore is very linear and structured, and a cursory walkthrough will bring you by all the exhibits. The History & Leaders Zone is right at the start, where wax figures of political heavyweights await. Here, you can engage in 'debate' with Barack Obama, stand with Nelson Mandela, or see Singapore's power couple of Lee Kuan Yew and Kwa Geok Choo. Next, the Sports Zone allows you to shoot basketball hoops with Yao Ming, putt on the golfing green with Tiger Woods, or take a virtual penalty shoot-out with Cristiano Ronaldo.
Moving further into Madame Tussauds Singapore, you'll come to the Behind The Scenes Zone, which traces the history of the real life Madame Anna Maria "Marie" Tussaud, as well as showcases the process of making a wax figure. The TV / Television Zone is somewhat of a let down though, with only 4 wax figures. The Music Zone features some of the most recognisable musicians in history, including Michael Jackson and Madonna. The Film Zone showcases celebrities from both Hollywood and Bollywood, including Arnold Schwarzenegger, Jackie Chan, and Amitabh Bachchan. Finally, the A-List Party Zone allows you to socialise with wax figures of Andy Lau, Leonardo DiCaprio, or Johnny Depp.
A major drawback of Madame Tussauds Singapore is that the entire exhibition is rather small, with each zone having less than 10 wax figures. The overall representation for each zone isn't comprehensive, as the selection of wax figures mostly comprise those commonly in the public eye. I found myself thinking, "Is that it?" upon reaching the end, and I actually doubled back to walk through again! For the price, I felt it could have been much better, but as it is, I think my visit to Sentosa Madame Tussauds Singapore wasn't good value for money.
If you're planning a visit to Sentosa Madame Tussauds Singapore, do note that admission fees cost SGD $30, and allocate between 1 to 2 hours for viewing. The promotion package price they have with Sentosa Images Of Singapore actually makes the whole experience much more worthwhile and value for money, at only SGD $35 admission fees to both attractions, you're better off getting this 2-for-1 deal instead.

Opening its doors in June 2014, the Sentosa Trick Eye Museum is the 1st international venture from the Korea / Korean Trick Eye Museum company. It's named for 'Trick of the Eye', which refers to their reowned technique of turning 2 dimensional paintings and artworks into 3 dimensional images through the use of optical illusions. The Sentosa Trick Eye Museum showcases almost 90 pieces of optical illusion artwork specially created for Singapore.
Visitors are highly encouraged to interact with, and touch the exhibits, as well as photograph themselves for a memorable experience. The Sentosa Trick Eye Museum consists of 6 themed zones. 'World Of Masterpieces' showcases classical paintings from Western artists that you can step into and became part of. 'Safari Kingdom' allows you to strike various poses with illusions of wild animals, while 'Star Of Circus' puts you on an illusionary stage at a carnival.
The Sentosa Trick Eye Museum also has 'Dreams Of Fairy Tale', where you can step into a fantasy world. 'Love In Winter' was probably the most confusing themed zone for me, as it mixes high fantasy with a winter / snow theme, but I'm not sure where the 'Love' fits in. The 'Adventure Discovery' is a hybrid of sports related illusions and cultural inspired artworks. The layout of the Sentosa Trick Eye Museum is linear, so you'll definitely pass by all the exhibits during your visit.
I like that Sentosa Trick Eye Museum staff are helpful, stationed around to guide you how best to interact with the exhibits, and help you take photographs if needed. I also like that each major exhibit has an instruction sheet in pictorial form, showing you how to strike various poses with the exhibit, as well as where to stand to get the best angles for photographs. Several of the optical illusion paintings and artwork were memorable for me, including the Ames Room, Hanging Upside Down, Skydiving, Levitation Chair, Moon Over The Sky, Angel's Wings, Little Match Girl, and Levitation.
If you're planning a visit to the Trick Eye Museum, do note that admission fees cost SGD $25, and allocate between 1 to 2 hours for viewing. Also, it's important to visit the washroom before you even queue to enter, as there are no toilets within the premises, and re-entry is not allowed once you exit. They also have several photography tips to ensure you get the best looking photos, and for the best experience, it's best to visit in groups of at least 3 - 4 people or more, as some of the exhibits require 2 people to interact while the 3rd person takes the photo.

The Sentosa Marine Life Park is a marine theme park, housing under its roof several marine / nautical themed attractions, including the S.E.A. Aquarium, currently the world's largest oceanarium. Besides the S.E.A. Aquarium, the Marine Life Park also showcases The Maritime Experiential Museum, the Maritime Archaeology Gallery, the Exploration Centre, The Souk Exhibit, and the Typhoon Theatre.
As the highlight of the Marine Life Park, the S.E.A. Aquarium naturally takes up the largest floor space. It's a journey into the undersea kingdom, starting with the eye-opening Shipwreck Exhibit, where fish swim by in floor-to-ceiling aquariums. The Karimata Strait & Java Sea Exhibit and Man Eating Sharks Exhibit features undersea tunnels, where marine life swim by all around you, making for great photos. But it seems very similar in concept to other nautical themed attractions in Sentosa.
I felt the Marine Life Park stood out for its gargantuan Ocean Journey & Ocean Dome Exhibit, dwafing all people with its size, and making us feel like we were on the ocean floor. The Dolphin Island was another highlight, where divers interacted with dolphins for public viewing. And the Sea Jellies Exhibit was a psychedelic display of colour. Over 800 species of marine life are showcased here, in 10 zones further divided into 49 habitats.
At The Maritime Experiential Museum in Marine Life Park, a showcase of exhibits trace the different cultures, countries, and people that plied the maritime silk route of old. The exhibits are nicely setup, and spread out to give a awe-inspiring look as decor. But many of the openly displayed items were also fake, made from plastic or cheap metal to prevent theft. The Souk Exhibit is eye-catching, and the little Bao Chuan Show is somewhat interesting, but beyond that, this area has nothing much to look at.
If you're planning a visit to the Marine Life Park, do note that admission fees cost SGD $38, and allocate between 1 to 3 hours for viewing.

The Lake Of Dreams is located in the main area of Resorts World Sentosa, on Sentosa island, and is a once free daily show that takes place at 9.30pm everyday. By day, and most of the evening, it looks like a beautiful sculptured fountain with intricate designs and patterns, but near the time of the show, it's lit up by lights, which illuminate the flowing water beautifully.
Unfortunately, being pretty and nice to look at is the only thing that the Lake Of Dreams has going for it. As a show, even one that is displayed free, it does very poorly. One problem is the large, spread design of the Lake Of Dreams, which prevents clear viewing from any angle, even from the viewing gallery directly in front of it. This means fountains, lights or special water effects at the sides of the Lake Of Dreams go unoticed by most of the viewers, except those closest to it.
Another problem with the Lake Of Dreams is the limited range of multimedia effects, which gets repetitive after about 7 minutes or so. By this time, you would already have seen most of the water jets, fountains, mist jets, lights, sound, pyrotechnics and animatronics that the show has to offer, and it just repeats from there. The highlight would be the lighting of flames on the lake, but after that, nothing much else happens. This is evident by people starting to leave after awhile, not staying throughout the show, or from complains about boredom. The show would be better off with a shorter amount of time, or with a more interesting story and effects.
Finally, the Lake Of Dreams has a weak storyline which makes very little sense, and seems almost forced together to suit the special effects. The story itself involves air spirits dancing, water spirits flowing, whales singing, butterflies summoning dragons through dance, a red dragon and a yellow dragon who band together to create a ring of fire. Then they celebrate. The story totally lost me by this point.
In summary, poor viewing angles from the gallery, repetitive special effects and a weak story make this an average show at best. But in the context of Sentosa with it's many outstanding attractions, the Lake Of Dreams is one of the worst attractions / shows on the island. Skip this, and you won't be missing anything. But if you really must watch it, the Lake Of Dreams starts at 9.30pm everyday, though the viewing gallery starts to fill up by 9.15pm. It's free, and allocate about 15 minutes for viewing.

The Crane Dance in Resorts World Sentosa on Sentosa island is a once daily free show that takes place at 9pm everyday. Due to its location, it can be viewed from the Crane Dance viewing gallery, the Sentosa Boardwalk, the Tiger Sky Tower, the Merlion, and even the waterfront at VivoCity.
The Crane Dance combines water special effects, pyrotechnics, multimedia lights and sound together with video and animatronics to tell a story of 2 mechanical cranes, whom through a journey of love and courtship, find themselves magically transformed into real cranes.
While the story is simple, it's easy to follow, but the real highlight of the world's largest dancing animatronics is the audio visual spectacle of the huge mechanical cranes. Designed by Mr. Jeremy Railton, the Crane Dance is inspired by folk tales / fairy tales where the power of love is able to infuse life into inanimate objects.
If you're around the area, and it's near 9pm, it's worth catching the Crane Dance. Allocate just 10 minutes for viewing the entire show, and perhaps another 5 minutes to get a good place / viewing spot before the show begins. Admission is free, but beware of rainy / wet weather, as the entire area is open to the elements.
