1. Duomo Cathedral
As the official church of the city, the Duomo Cathedral, also known as the Milan Cathedral, is not only the largest church in Lombardy and Italy, but is also the 5th largest in the world. There are more statues on this gothic-style cathedral than any other building in the world, with about 3,400 statues, 135 gargoyles, and 700 figures of saints. As it was constructed over 6 centuries, it has a mix of beautiful, stunning architecture from across history and various countries. Highlights include the various sculptures and altars, the openwork pinnacles and spires on the roof, and the pink-hued white marble which comprises most of the building.
