Located at the picturesque Hamdeok Beach, Cafe Delmoondo (델문도카페) is a tourist attraction in its own right... not for its bread or pastries or desserts, but for its location in the area, offering a relaxing ambience to soak in the view. We last visited Cafe Delmoondo in 2017, and it seared such a lasting and memorable impression upon us, that we knew we had to revisit Cafe Delmoondo again during our 2023 trip.

Ambience at Cafe Delmoondo is ridiculously pretty, almost like heaven on earth. The rustic wooden industrial cottage is well air-conditioned, with ample and comfortable modern furnishings spread across its 2 floors. The indoor seating has unobstructed views with floor-to-ceiling glass panels, but the outdoor al-fresco seating has the benefit of cooling breezes. From the spacious decks, you'll be able to take in the turquoise green blue ocean waters, the white sandy beaches, the gentle green rolling hills, the deep blue skies with fluffy white clouds.

Service at Cafe Delmoondo is pure self-service, with ordering, payment, and collection over the counter, diners are also expected to clean-up after themselves. Expect to queue for a bit, as staff patiently take their time to respond to queries, demonstrating decent product knowledge. The small bakery display gets rather cramped with crowds. Orders are quickly fulfilled. You're advised to find available seats before ordering, as the place is usually crowded throughout the day, they also don't offer advance reservations.

Food at Cafe Delmoondo is American and Korean cuisine, focused on breads, pastries, desserts, and beverages. They don't offer full meals. That said, while their bread and pastries are freshly baked, we knew from our prior visits that taste and quality is average at best, meaning that food isn't the star here. Order some drinks and chill in the space. Portions are sized for individuals, and being a popular tourist location, prices have a slight premium. Budget about KRW ₩25,000 / SGD $25 per person.

Hamdeok Beach

The Peanut Latte (KRW ₩8,500) is thick creamy smooth in texture, rather like a milkshake, which is topped with milk foam. Has a nutty sweet earthy milky flavour, nice. Served either warm or chilled, we got the chilled version. Worth ordering!

The Peach Tea (KRW ₩8,000) is nicely refreshing, thin and light in texture with fruity earthy sweet bitter flavour. Served chilled, it's a lovely thirst-quencher. Good!

The Delmoondo Ade (KRW ₩10,000) features a blend of soda water, lime juice, lemon juice, and natural food colourings of blue green yellow, served with a wedge of lemon. The result is a vibrant beverage that resembles the colours of nature around the cafe. Has a fruity zesty sour sweet tangy flavour with a lively fizzy texture. Good!
