Founded in February 2018, Twenty Eight Cafe is a casual cozy cafe serving large hearty portions of mains, all-day breakfast, and pastries. They're known for being a great place to work remotely, with plentiful seating, free wi-fi, and ample power sockets. The folks at Twenty Eight Cafe welcomed a new in-house concept in December 2022 of Catkin By Huishan, an artisanal gelato and plated dessert bar helmed by renowned pastry chef Soh Huishan. Supported by business partners Cynthia Lim and Benjamin Goh (who also operate fine-dining restaurant 28 Wilkie), Twenty Eight Cafe and Catkin By Huishan is well positioned for the future.

Ambience at Twenty Eight Cafe (And Catkin By Huishan) exudes a modern industrial feel, with warm lights over a spacious place in shades of white and brown, neatly arrayed with sturdy wooden furnishing. A centrepiece bar takes up the middle, while potted plants dot the sides. Some ambient buzz around, but the place is never noisy. There's strong stable wi-fi throughout, along with ample power sockets, great for working remotely.

Service at Twenty Eight Cafe (And Catkin By Huishan) is friendly, professional, and accommodating. While ordering and payment is done digitally, staff are able to answer queries and offer recommendations, demonstrating good product knowledge. They clean up quickly when diners leave, and sometimes offer to clear finished plates proactively. While there's a 90-minute dining time limit, this is seldom enforced unless the place is packed and a queue forms to get in.

Food at Twenty Eight Cafe (And Catkin By Huishan) is Modern European and Modern Singaporean, influenced by British, American, and Italian cuisines. They offer all-day breakfast, pastries, and mains, all freshly made and served in large hearty portions sized for individuals, but are best shared as it's really filling. Gelato is made in-house daily, as are their artisanal plated desserts, drawing on local Singaporean flavours and memories. Prices are reflective of most cafes, budget about SGD $33 per person.

Visually, it's obvious telling apart the Latte Single-Shot (SGD $5.90) & Double-Shot (SGD $6.80), with the former being lighter and the latter being darker. Compared to the other coffee I've had here, this seems slightly stronger in depth. Good!
