Founded by Jessica Seah in November 2021, Alice Boulangerie & Restaurant channels its squirrel mascot in being curious, energetic, and adventurous. Well regarded for their artisanal confectioneries and baked products, as well as hearty and well-executed main courses, Alice Boulangerie & Restaurant brings a touch of savoir-faire and French flair to town.

Ambience at Alice Boulangerie & Restaurant welcomes diners into a cozy sunlit space, with touches of wood and greenery. The marble-topped tables and inviting leather banquettes, laid with bespoke ceramics, exude class. The background music selection enhances the inviting ambience.

Service at Alice Boulangerie & Restaurant is alright, with staff warmly greeting guests. Ordering is via the online platform, which has pictures and brief descriptions of dishes. I did wish staff would be more proactive and observant in attending to diners, but I note they clean up quickly when diners are finished.

Food at Alice Boulangerie & Restaurant is French and Italian cuisine, focused on artisanal confectioneries, pastries, and main courses. Ingredients are sourced with care, and the kitchen showcases seasonal fusion dishes. Portions are large for individuals, and can be shared. The addictive Miso Corn Ribs (SGD $18) feature corn ribs, shaved nearly off the corn cob, marinated in miso paste and mayonnaise, seasoned with salt, cayenne pepper, and smoked paprika. With a juicy crunchy bite to texture, this carries bold grainy sweet salty spice smoky flavour, delicious. Highly recommended!

The adjourning table declared the Chicken Mayonnaise Croissant (SGD $7.50) to be "very goood", and I secretly agree. The crisp flaky croissant has buttery bready sweet savoury flavour, with the layers of crisp fresh lettuce and juicy tomato lending combined vegetal sweet flavour. The chunky creamy tender chicken mayonnaise features boneless pulled chicken mixed with mayonnaise, chicken eggs, and cream, lending a meaty milky sweet savoury flavour that is so enticing. Enjoyed this. Highly recommended!

The Alice Big Breakfast (SGD $30) lives up to its name, with a large plate of hearty ingredients. There's crunchy toasted sourdough bread with bready sour earthy flavour, crisp rocket leaves / arugula with vegetal bitter herbal sweet flavour, juicy roasted tomato with smoky vegetal sweet flavour, bouncy sautéed button mushrooms with vegetal earthy salty flavour, 2 soft sunny side up chicken eggs with eggy sweet flavour, chunky avocado with vegetal grassy savoury sweet flavour, crisp streaky pork bacon with smoky meaty salty savoury flavour, and snappy pork kurobuta sausage with smoky meaty savoury salty spice flavour. Highly recommended!

Loved the hearty, filling, and delicious Smoked Bacon Pepenara (SGD $26). This features long flat ribbon-shaped mafaldine pasta noodles (named in honour of Princess Mafalda of Savoy, Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes, France) done al-dente chewy, tossed with Sarawak black pepper, crisp smoked pork bacon bits, crumbly parmesan cheese, crisp puffed wild rice, crisp rocket leaves / arugula, and wobbly chicken egg yolk. Combined, this carries lovely grainy savoury sweet smoky meaty salty peppery spice cheesy eggy vegetal bitter herbal flavour. Really enjoyed this. Highly recommended!

The classic French viennoiserie pastry of Pain Au Chocolat (SGD $6) features a yeast-leavened laminated dough with a beautifully crisp exterior, shattering delightfully to reveal the fluffy soft interior studded with gooey thick chocolate. With a bready buttery sweet savoury chocolatey bitter flavour, and a decadent touch from the use of French butter, this was satisfying and delicious. Highly recommended!

The creative dessert pastry of Tiramisu Cinnamon Roll (SGD $6.60) is a fusion of a cinnamon roll and a tiramisu. The base is a soft fluffy bread roll, layered with sticky cinnamon sugar. Topped with creamy mascarpone cheese infused with dark rum, completed with a fine dusting of cocoa powder. Bite in, and you get a big hit of boozy earthy chocolatey bitter sweet milky flavour, then the warm bready sweet spice flavour beneath. Highly recommended!

The classic French dessert of Paris-Brest (SGD $13) features a light chewy pâte à choux (or choux pastry shell) filled with tall layers of creamy luxurious whipped hazelnut mousseline and molten hazelnut, crispy hazelnut biscuits, and crowned with a thick crisp caramel sauce and firm crunchy caramelized hazelnut. Flakes of edible gold leaf lend a touch of glamour and luxury. The beautiful layers reveal when cut, and each bite carries bold milky earthy nutty candied sweet flavour. Highly recommended!

Symbolising curiosity and playful adventure, their mascot Squirrel (SGD $14) cake is as much a piece of edible art as it is a dessert. The base is a crunchy chocolate biscuit, over which sits moist flourless chocolate cake and dense pecan nut chocolate brownie, layered with thick rich salted caramel crémeux. Enveloped within a firm crisp dark chocolate shell, topped with a creamy fluffy adorable 3D squirrel crafted from orange milk chocolate crémeux and 64% manjari dark chocolate mousse. Decorated with edible gold leaf. The flavour pairing is sophisticated, layers of deep chocolatey bitter sweet candied salty citrusy flavours. Highly recommended!

The Eden (SGD $12) is an elegant petit gâteaux cake, a sophisticated multi‑layered confectionery creation that resembles a little garden of flavours. Within a crisp white chocolate shell coloured green, is a creamy guava mousse and juicy guava cubes, topped with a moist soft almond joconde sponge cake filled with sticky thick raspberry compote, topped with creamy French earl grey tea mousse, coated in a gelatinous raspberry jelly shell. Decorated with edible flowers and a candy butterfly. Cut into this dessert and you get the distinct layers, combining for a burst of citrusy zesty sour tangy fruity chocolatey earthy floral nutty sweet flavours. Highly recommended!
