When they first set up as a pop-up stall in a bazaar in May 2018, Beef Bro was a huge hit. Queues of up to 2 hours long would form, and they would sell an average of 600 portions of their signature blow torch grilled beef cubes a day. The brainchild of entrepreneur Norvan Tan and actor Danial Ashriq (who later departed to focus on other pursuits), the demand was great enough that they decided to open a permanent Beef Bro shop front in the Tampines area of Singapore, with help from Norvan's father, friend Kelvin Tan, and Chef Khairul Anwar Zakaria.

Ambience at Beef Bro draws largely on the surrounding bazaar. As a pure takeaway joint, there are no seats. It's easy to spot them, with their large signage and curious onlookers staring at the chefs grilled the beef.

Service at Beef Bro is completely self-service, with ordering, payment, and collection over the counter. Staff usually don't customise orders, and you're limited to a choice of whether you want chili or not.

Food at Beef Bro is focused on Taiwanese style beef cubes. The halal beef is blow torch grilled, which is like taking a sledgehammer to a nail; lacking elegance and finesse, but an eye-catching spectacle. Portions are sized for sharing, but prices are premium. Budget about SGD $15 per person.

A plain but simple packaging for their beef cubes. They use halal, premium cuts of beef - usually beef rump. Sadly, they usually cook the beef till it's well done.

The signature Mentaiko Beef Cubes (SGD $14.90) features beef cubes, blow torch grilled till well done, with a firm, chewy, juicy texture, and bold meaty savoury flavour. Coated in a house special, creamy rich mentaiko / pollock fish roe sauce, which has bright briny salty savoury flavour. Garnished with crisp nori / seaweed flakes, and a secret recipe sambal belacan which is super spicy and shiok. I only wish they cooked the beef medium rare instead.

The new Mala Beef Cubes (SGD $14.90) features beef cubes, blow torch grilled till well done, with a firm, chewy, juicy texture, and bold meaty savoury flavour. Coated in a house special, Sichuan / Szechuan mala peppercorn sauce, which has bold spicy numbing flavour. Garnished with dried red chili flakes, you can opt to add their secret recipe sambal belacan for a real fiery kick. Wish the mala was slightly more spicy though, and wish they cooked the beef medium rare instead.

This year, they've branched out to a luxury offering with their spin-off, Lobster Bro. They use fresh, live lobsters, which are filleted straight out of the tank. The Garlic Butter Lobster (SGD $20) features a whole lobster, halved down the middle, grilled nicely via blow torch... sounds like an oxymoron, but the Chef grilling the lobsters seems to have it under control. The lobster meat is bouncy and succulent with a light chew, having a delicate natural sweet flavour. The grill lends it a smoky aroma, while the home made garlic butter sauce lends it bold spice buttery flavour, so delicious. Good!
