A tongue-in-cheek name on "the food pantry", The Food Pan 3 is a home-based business offering made-to-order pies and other seasonal specialities. I'd previously ordered their Christmas 2022 seasonal dishes, and was pleasantly surprised, so was pleased to receive a media drop from The Food Pan 3 this time.

The pies from The Food Pan 3 have to be ordered via instagram direct message (dm @thefoodpan3), or via email (thefoodpan3@gmail.com), at least 4 days in advance. Payment is via electronic bank transfer, and is either self-collection at Chef's house (free), self-collection at a selected MRT station (SGD $5), or delivery to door-stop only on Fridays (SGD $15 - $20 depending on location).

The Food Pan 3 Packaging

The Food Pan 3 provided clear storage and reheating instructions for their home-made pies. If kept in the refrigerator chiller, the pies can be stored up to 3 or 4 days, but if kept in the freezer, the pies can be stored up to 3 weeks. That said, it's freshly baked when received, it's best to eat it straight away while still hot. Each pie also has its ingredients clearly listed.

The classic Chicken Pie (SGD $7) has a crisp flaky puff pastry, filled generously with freshly roasted deboned tender chicken chunks, soft diced vegetables (carrots, potatoes, red onions, peas), and a springy hard boiled half egg. Glazed with a cream sauce, this carried lovely bready meaty vegetal sweet savoury eggy flavour, yum. Not too rich, yet hearty and filling. Highly recommended!

The Red Wine Beef Pie (SGD $9) has a crisp flaky puff pastry, filled generously with tender beef chunks, soft diced vegetables (button mushroom, red onions, carrots), rosemary, and thyme, all slow stewed with red wine and a rich beef stock over hours. This carried robust smoky meaty vegetal earthy savoury sweet herbal bitter bready flavour, tasty. Luxurious, hearty and filling. Good!

The Beef Rendang Pie (SGD $9) has a crisp flaky puff pastry, filled with tender beef chunks spiced with rendang paste made from lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, shallots, garlic, coconut milk, grated coconut, fermented shrimp paste, and red chili, then slow stewed for hours. This carried addictive smoky meaty savoury salty earthy spicy nutty bready flavour, utterly delicious. Rapidly finished every bite of this hearty and filling pie. Highly recommended!

The Chicken Kari Kapitan Pie (SGD $8) blends Eurasian and Indian influences. The crisp flaky puff pastry is filled generously with fresh tender chicken chunks, soft diced vegetables (carrots, potatoes, red onions), and a springy hard boiled half egg, all spiced with a kapitan curry paste made from lemongrass, galangal, kaffir lime leaves, garlic, curry leaves, turmeric, fermented shrimp paste, candlenuts, and red chili. Has bright spicy meaty savoury salty sour eggy sweet bready flavour, so nice. Comforting, hearty and filling. Good!
