Founded in February 2017 in Singapore by Tham Kok Yun and Ong Wei Sheng, Big Fish Small Fish began as a small container fast-food kiosk, and has since grown to become a mid-range casual restaurant, specialising in fresh fish dishes and hand made potato crisps. With a name that calls to mind the classic children's game, also named Big Fish Small Fish, this halal-certified playful eatery has improved on its quality and standards over the last decade of its existence.

Ambience at Big Fish Small Fish is bright, modern, and clean. The contemporary modern furnishings are comfortable yet closely packed, while the bright lights and open space feels welcoming. When crowded, ambient noise can be bustling, with conversations carrying across. The layout is neat and the self-service counters are kept clean.

Service at Big Fish Small Fish is efficient, polite, and warm. Staff loudly and warmly greet diners, seating them quickly. The self-service online ordering is easy and intuitive, and orders are fulfilled relatively quick. Staff demonstrate adequate product knowledge on the menu, helpfully aid with requests, and clean up quickly when diners leave.

Food at Big Fish Small Fish draws on Modern British, Italian, and Fusion Seafood cuisines. Fish is the highlight here, prepared in a variety of ways. The variety and quality of ingredients is above average. Portions are large for individuals, nicely substantial. Prices are reflective of a casual restaurant, budget about SGD $28 per person.

Love that they've changed their model to Free-Flow Crisps & Sauces. The Potato Crisps (SGD $Complimentary, Refillable) are thin and crisp soft in texture, with mild starchy savoury earthy flavour. Hand made in batches using fresh potatoes and served unsalted, these are a good base for the different sauces. I love watching staff gently fill each serving cone to the brim. Best eaten fresh.

The sauces include creamy Sauce Honey Mustard with sweet sour tangy spice flavour, thick Sauce Tomato Ketchup with vegetal sweet sour flavour, creamy Sauce Sriracha with sweet savoury spice flavour, creamy Sauce Tartar with sour tangy zesty herbal flavour, thin Sauce Chili with sweet spice flavour, sticky Sauce Cheese with cheesy salty sweet flavour, and thin Sauce Garlic Butter Aioli with herbal earthy milky salty spice flavour.

Dressed with wispy katsuobushi / bonito / fermented skipjack tuna fish flakes which lends a bold fishy savoury earthy flavour, and a drizzle of lemon juice for added sour tangy zesty flavour.
