Even though I don't work anywhere near the Central Business District of Singapore, I've been coming here awhile now, thanks to The Rotisserie.
Located at the corner of China Square in Telok Ayer Street, The Rotisserie is immediately visible due to its location at the street corner and visible signage.
I quite like the ambience at The Rotisserie. With clean lines creating space, a high ceiling, and natural lighting, The Rotisserie gives off a comfortable and relaxing vibe, perfect for unwinding after work.
Service is mostly self-service, where you place your own orders and collect your own food once its ready. The staff are friendly, and will remind you to collect your order.
Now, the food. Portion sizes at The Rotisserie are quite large, typical of Australian serving sizes, and small eaters may need to share.
Anyplace which calls itself "The Rotisserie", has to pride itself on perfectly roasted, tender and juicy chicken. Fortunately, the chicken here is exactly like that. A nicely browned skin covers the tender and still moist chicken meat, which gives off a smoky aroma.
However, I did note that the chicken got noticebly less juicy towards the center, especially around the breast meat.
The Pork Ribs were reminiscent of American-Style BBQ Ribs, with fall-off-the-bone meat and a tangy, flavourful barbeque glaze.
I was quite disappointed with the Pork Knuckle however. While I loved the crispy skin, the Pork Knuckle meat was quite hard and dry. Probably the only dish I didn't enjoy here.
The Fish And Chips were served on a 'newspaper', like the British-Style chippy shops. The fish had a nice crispy batter, while still having a good chunk of moist fillet within. It was also less oily than I expected. Good!
The Rotisserie has a Vegetable Bar, and a Salad Bar. The difference? The Vegetable Bar contains staple side dishes like mashed potato and peas, and is similar day-to-day. The Salad Bar is freshly prepared daily, and the types of salad offered is different each day.
So far I've noted both western-style salads and middle-eastern-style salads. The portion size of the salad, at SGD $7.50 per serving, is relatively large already. I do wish however, that you could mix salads rather than having just 1 type of salad.
The Aussie Breakfast is rather good as well, although on weekdays, it's only served from 7.30am till 10.30am, and the whole day on saturday. Would be better if they extended their breakfast hours though, as most other places serve breakfast till 11am.
