Opened in February 2020, Genius Central Singapore is a cafe and co-working / co-learning space, part of a global network of entrepreneur resorts, cafes, and beach clubs. Genius Central Singapore is operated under the Genius Group, a leading entrepreneur education group which was incorporated in November 2015, and also manages educational technology and online learning platform company, GeniusU.
Ambience at Genius Central Singapore is open and homely. Originally designed for co-working / co-learning, the 150-seater space is warmly lit and lined with wide sturdy wooden tables. The chairs are comfortable, but don't allow for ease of movement. There's ample power outlets and complimentary internet wifi, suitable for hosting meetings, workshops, and in-person courses. This is a space where serious work can be done, from the low tables for small group discussions, to the long high tables for collaborative work, to the cozy private alcoves for focused work.
Service at Genius Central Singapore is friendly and efficient. Staff are quick to greet and seat guests, and even remembered me when I returned. They display decent knowledge of the menu, although this could be better. I note staff clean up quickly when diners leave, and they sometimes proactively clear finished plates throughout the meal. Arranging to book the premises for meetings, workshops, or courses is relatively straightforward. Staff ensure temperature taking and SafeEntry is performed, but I think more thorough cleaning could be performed.
Food at Genius Central Singapore is Modern Western and Modern Asian cuisine, focusing on healthy, wholesome meals. Clearly designed for the health-conscious crowd, but not intimidating for the rest of us, the menu is wonderfully inclusive, with options for gluten-free, nut-free, dairy-free, vegetarian, and vegan. Yet, dishes are bold in taste and delicious, pleasing to the eye, with ample use of fresh organic ingredients. Portions are medium to large for individuals, very satisfying. Prices are comparable to other cafes, budget about SGD $27 per person.

The Whisky Copper Dog (SGD $15) is a stunning blended whisky comprising 8 single malts, inspired by the resourceful rascals of Speyside; distillery workers who fashioned nifty little devices known as the ‘copper dog’, a piece of tubing with a penny soldered to one end and a cork in the other, used to smuggle a dram from the Scotch they made. Blended at the Craigellachie distillery by Master Blender Stuart Morrison, in Aberlour, Moray, Strathspey, Scotland, this has a bright copper brown colour, with aromas of toffee, red apple, oak, and vanilla. The body is smooth, silky, and creamy, with tastes of pear, green grapes, liquorice, and conifer. Has a fruity earthy woody sweet flavour, with a delicate long finish. Lovely and youthful.

The Popcorn Chicken (SGD $9) was inconsistent across visits. The first time, it was dry and tough, carrying a hint of burnt aroma. The second time, the organic popcorn chicken was perfectly executed, moist and tender, with bold savoury salty spice flavour. Served with a creamy thick smoked paprika mayonnaise, which lends a smoky vegetal sweet spice flavour. Good!

The Holy Wings (SGD $14) features chicken wings coated in a tangy sour sweet savoury house-made barbecue sauce, completed with crisp spring onions and red radish. Felt this was weak overall, lacking the punchy flavour of spice. Could be improved.

I have an aversion to strong grassy flavours largely due to unpleasant past experiences. Took a risk with the Green Goddess Soup Set (SGD $12), and I was gladly surprised by how good this was. A blend of pureed broccoli, peas, leeks, zucchini, and baby spinach, this gloopy thick soup / broth / stew held robust vegetal sweet savoury grassy earthy flavours. But the star is the garnish of crisp fried shallots, lending a layer of savoury salty spice flavour that made this so addictive. Served with flatbread with grainy bready sweet flavour, which was fluffy towards the edges and crisp towards the center. Highly recommended!
