Introduction
Located about 20 minutes drive away from the Manchester international airport in Manchester, England, the Ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel is a 3-star economy boutique hotel that offers a fantastic location right in the heart of the city. While it has nearly no common facilities, this is offset as the Ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel has good proximity to nearby options, and is among the more affordable stays in town.
Ambience
Ambience at Ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel draws inspiration from weather patterns, the most prominent bring the rainy environment. The result is a quirky yet appealing design choice, with umbrellas and cloudy skies as a central design theme, from the decor to the finishes. Likewise, bedroom artwork follows this choice, and the overall look is highly appealing and appropriate, the reason why it's so eye-catching.
Room
Rooms at Ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel are design-forward and clean. I stayed at The Queen Large Double Room, which was cozy with a working desk, leaf-shaped ottoman stool, good high speed wifi, and a flat screen smart cable television. The bathroom is small but practical, with minimal toiletries and lovely wallpaper. Was slightly miffed that the shower area is only partially enclosed, which led to wet bathroom floors.
Food
Food at Ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel is served at the Jamboree Foodfest & Bar, which is a 3rd-party restaurant and gastrobar. Honestly, the fact that this place isn't crowded even on weekends (when everywhere else is packed), should have been an indication... and after dining here, I know for sure. Save your calories and dine elsewhere.
Service
Service at Ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel is above average. Staff are responsive and helpful, mindful of guests and remember preferences. Housekeeping is thorough if a little slow, but polite and checks on quality. Vending machines allow for purchase of some essentials. The restaurant staff are friendly and demonstrate good product knowledge, they also clean up efficiently when diners leave.
Facilities & Activities
The facilities and activities at Ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel are minimal, as its convenient location means there's little need to offer in-house. The only 2 points of note, is the spacious and comfortable lobby lounge that's equipped with power outlets to charge your devices, while the bar has a foosball table and a snooker / pool table for games. For all other types of activities, you'll have to search the surrounding area. That said, Ibis Styles Manchester Portland Hotel is a good place to stay overall.
