1. Duomo Cathedral

As the official church of the city, the Duomo Cathedral, also known as the Milan Cathedral, is not only the largest church in Lombardy and Italy, but is also the 5th largest in the world. There are more statues on this gothic-style cathedral than any other building in the world, with about 3,400 statues, 135 gargoyles, and 700 figures of saints. As it was constructed over 6 centuries, it has a mix of beautiful, stunning architecture from across history and various countries. Highlights include the various sculptures and altars, the openwork pinnacles and spires on the roof, and the pink-hued white marble which comprises most of the building.



2. Sforza Castle

The Sforza Castle, also known as the Castello Sforzesco, is among the largest citadels in Italy, and in Europe. Located in the region of Lombardy, the vast complex today is home to many Milan museums, including the Museum Of Ancient Art, the Museum Of Musical Instruments, the Applied Arts Collection, and the Pinacoteca. In particular, there are masterpieces by Italian Renaissance painters exhibited here, including works by Andrea Mantegna and Carlo Crivelli. Also worth seeing here are the imposing gates, towers, and courtyards of the citadel.



3. Pinacoteca Di Brera

The Pinacoteca Di Brera or Brera Art Gallery is the foremost public gallery and art collection of Milan and Lombardy, with over 500 works from across Italy, dating from the 14th - 20th century. Styled in elegant neoclassical Baroque architecture, the museum is well regarded as having the best Renaissance art collection in Europe. Highlights include the 'Supper At Emmaus' by Michelangelo Merisi Da Caravaggio, the 'Lamentation Of Christ' by Andrea Mantegna, and the sexy 'Il Bacio / The Kiss' by Francesco Hayez, which is said to best represent Italian Romanticism.



4. La Scala Theatre & Museo Teatrale Alla Scala

The La Scala Theatre & Museo Teatrale Alla Scala is a famous opera house and museum in Milan, Lombardy, Italy, and contains a collection of paintings, drafts, statues, costumes, and other documents of opera history. The most iconic feature is the beautifully designed 18th-century auditorium, with its awe-inspiring tiers of theatre boxes, before which many orchestras, opera singers, and ballet troupes have performed.

Introduction
Located about 1 minute walk away from the Milan Malpensa Airport / City of Busto Arsizio airport in Milan, the Sheraton Malpensa Hotel serves as the airport hotel. While this means it's convenient for travellers who have to be around the airport, or are here for short stays, or are waiting for their next flight, the Sheraton Malpensa Hotel is a poor choice for most other business or leisure travellers, as it's about 1 hour away from the main city via rail.


Ambience
Ambience at Sheraton Malpensa Hotel is modern, spacious, and contemporary. The sprawling grounds feature high ceilings, clean symmetrical lines, and minimalist decor. Floor to ceiling windows line the corridors, offering perfect views of the adjecent carpark and roads. Italian artworks line the wall, all featuring iconic architecture of the city. There are multiple lounges here, allowing guests to relax.


Room
Rooms at Sheraton Malpensa Hotel are comfortable, modern, and spacious. I like the large, comfortable beds, and the bathroom is clean, splendid, and well stocked with amenities. Love the polished marble surfaces. The large wardrobe is also equipped with many clothing hangers, a rarity in most other hotels. The in-room wi-fi is stable and fast, and the television offers cable channels from across Europe. A good sized working desk is provided. However, I did find it strange that the mini refrigerator was fully stocked, I had little space to store things I bought.


Food
Food at Sheraton Malpensa Hotel is provided by the sole restaurant, the Il Canneto Restaurant. Classic Italian dishes feature heavily, all well executed, and delicious. They have a small experimental tasting menu, which offers food and wine pairing, which I find rather exciting. Portions are generally sized for individuals, but are still large, and very filling. Would love dining here again.


Service
Service at Sheraton Malpensa Hotel is polite, friendly, and efficient. Staff can converse in basic English, and carry out requests promptly. They offer greetings when you pass them in the hallways. I like that reception staff are engaging, and will check for feedback on your stay. However, the vastness of the hotel means you rarely encounter staff. Also, I note that no staff are positioned at the entrances to welcome guests.


Facilities & Activities
The facilities and activities at Sheraton Malpensa Hotel cater for both business and leisure. However, during my stay, the majority of leisure facilities were under renovation, and guests were unable to use them. For business, the meeting rooms are spacious and well equipped, and they offer a variety of room sizes. Sheraton Malpensa Hotel is also directly connected to the airport, where there are several shops, convenience stores, restaurants, and cafes. The rail to the city is also located here, though it requires about 1 hour of travelling time.
