Opening its doors along with Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa in November 2015, Kwee Zeen is the hotel's all-day dining and buffet restaurant. With views of the South China Sea, and a curated selection of Pan-Asian and French dishes, Kwee Zeen offers its dinner buffet every Friday till Sunday. For the months of June till August 2017, the highlight at Kwee Zeen is their French style rotisserie section, with a succulent variety of roast meats.

Ambience at Kwee Zeen is casual and relaxing. The warmly lit area, with its high ceiling, open space, and wide windows, feels welcoming and inviting. Rich earthy brown hues and modern functional furnishings complete the look. The wide sheltered terrace offers great natural views. The buffet layout is rather linear, but do note there is also an outdoor food section, which often goes overlooked if you're indoors.

Service at Kwee Zeen is welcoming and efficient. Staff offer greetings and goodbyes, and will quickly usher diners to available seats. I appreciate that staff often come around to check on tables, quickly clearing away empty / dirty plates, very efficient. They also proactively offer fresh fruit juices, a nice personalised touch. Some of the live stations offer opportunities to interact with the chefs on duty, who will engage you in conversation.

Food at Kwee Zeen is buffet style during dinner, every Friday to Sunday. Focus is on pan-asian cuisine, drawing on Chinese, Indian, Japanese, and Singaporean influences, with some American and French as well. The buffet theme changes quarterly, for the period of June - August 2017, the highlight is the French style rotisserie. A large, glass-windowed roaster is prominent in the central live station, skewers of pork, chicken, beef, and lamb slowly roasting away. Completely appetizing. Generally, taste of dishes here is mostly decent, and items are fresh. The range is not as extensive as other hotel buffets, but there is more than sufficient variety for diners. Prices are comparable to other hotel buffets, budget about SGD $68++ per person for a meal here.

With the focus on French cuisine, several dishes stood out for me. I loved the rich flavour of the Soupe À L'oignon / French Onion Soup, with its sweet savoury taste from the beef stock and caramelised onions. The Rôti De Boeuf / Roast Beef was nicely medium, with a moist, tender texture that has a slight chew, and bold savoury flavour. The Ratatouille was rich in flavour and fresh, and I like that the vegetables still had some bite, without being limp. The Pommes De Terre Sarladaises / Potato Sarladaise has a nice buttery flavour, while the Broccoli Amandine has a delicate nutty almond flavour.

The star of the buffet, was unanimously agreed to be the Poulet Rôti / Roast Chicken. Despite its ordinary looks, the chicken was juicy throughout, with a bouncy texture, and a clean-tasting, sweet savoury flavour. It was so good we went for several helpings. Must try!

Overall, I enjoyed the casual ambience, friendly service, and tasty food at Kwee Zeen. The French style rotisserie is well presented, and allows diners the opportunity to sample a range of rustic countryside dishes. The chocolaterie section is another highlight, its gourmet chocolate offerings on par with other reputable brands. Worth a visit!
