The Leela Palace

Located just 20 minutes drive away from the Delhi airport, The Leela Palace is a 5 star, up-market, extravagant hotel located in the Gurgaon district of Delhi, North India. With the huge Ambience Mall directly next to it, and a short drive away from most of Delhi attractions, The Leela Palace offers unparelled convenience and access, and as befitting its 5 star status, fantastic comfort and security.

The external ambience of The Leela Palace isn't much to speak of, but the good thing is the tight security around the area. Within, the massive main foyer / lobby lends a sense of space, while elegant ethnic touches and contemporary artwork blend together seamlessly, giving a sense of sophistication and luxury. Plush seats and marble finishings, along with the high ceiling lend an air of granduer and sophistication.

As a 5 star hotel, The Leela Palace has clean, well equipped, and spacious rooms. I stayed at the Deluxe Room, which features a work desk, living area, 2 showers and a bathtub! In-room wifi / internet connectivity is reliable and quite fast, and the television has international cable tv channels. The bathroom is well stocked with towels and grooming equipment, though I notice a lack of a bidet. The bed is large and comfy, and the pillows are soft. But I found it odd that the wardrobe is split into 2 sections, rather than combined.

Food at the The Leela Palace ranges from Indian cuisine, to Italian cuisine, to Greek cuisine, to International cuisine. There is an extensive amount of menu options, and the buffet spread at Spectra Restaurant features a different highlight daily in each of its 7 live cooking stations. Pure North Indian cuisine can be had at fine dining restaurant Diya Restaurant, while Italian fine dining is available at Zanotta Restaurant. A lot of options are available for in-room dining as well. Generally, I found the Indian food here to be tasty and well prepared, and served in rather large portions.

Service at The Leela Palace is excellent. Staff are polite and efficient, and all of them are able to converse in English. When staff pass you in the halls, they offer greetings. Service to the room takes about 30 minutes, and staff will lay out the table for you. Requests such as late / early check-in / check-out or transport arrangements are easy to make, while security here is tight and effective. I was surprised that the transport service uses a BMW car, which is a rare sight in Delhi, and makes you feel especially important!

Facilities & Activities
The facilities and activities at The Leela Palace are enough to occupy your day. There is a variety of health and wellness options, ranging from the Gymnasium, to the Swimming Pool, to the Spa or Sauna. Business meetings can be held in the well equipped and spacious Conference Rooms, all of which are decorated with contemporary Western and Indian artwork. However, there isn't much to entertain children. Fortunately, The Leela Palace is located directly next to Ambience Mall.
