Established in September 2017 as a mobile pop-up kiosk, King's Cart Coffee Factory finally opened their 1st permanent location in the Joo Chiat area of Singapore in September 2020. Founders of King's Cart Coffee Factory, Ronald Tan and Maggie Chen, a SCA Certified Roaster and a Certified Q Arabica Grader (1 of only 34 in Singapore) respectively, their latest venture is a welcoming cafe with great coffee and good bakes. Getting in early is recommended, or visit during off-peak hours to avoid the crowd.
Ambience at King's Cart Coffee Factory is casual with a modern minimalist vibe. Bright spotlights and ample natural light illuminate the open place, which has clean simple lines against white walls and gray floors. Pops of faux greenery offset the earthy wooden tones of the comfortable furnishings. There's display shelves of coffee equipment, while a long counter allows for perching and conversing with the baristas / mixologists at work. Glass-covered freshly baked confectioneries beckon near the cashier. Love how tranquil and welcoming it all feels.
Service at King's Cart Coffee Factory is friendly and personable. While partially self-service, with ordering and payment over the counter, staff will serve orders to your table. They display good product knowledge on beverages and the daily rotating range of freshly baked confectionery, even introducing dishes as they serve. Even with ongoing COVID-19 safety and hygiene measures, I observed staff to manage crowds well, and they'll engage in conversation with repeat customers. I note they clean up quickly when diners are finished. A step-up in service standards compared to other cafes.
Food at King's Cart Coffee Factory is modern European, with a dash of local Singaporean influence. While the menu is rather small, dishes are hearty and tasty, with straightfoward but pleasing flavour combinations. The desserts and breads are freshly baked, and look so enticing. Coffee is the speciality here, they have equipment to roast coffee beans onsite, and they even have bespoke cocktails featuring coffee. Portions are medium to large for individuals, and decently filling. Prices are comparable to other cafes, budget about SGD $24 per person for a meal here.

The Coconut Latte (SGD $8) is thick and rich, with robust milky earthy sweet smoky flavour. You distinctly taste both the coconut milk and the smokiness of the roasted coffee beans here. They serve the shot of espresso on the side, so you'll need to stir it in. The rim of the mug is studded with toasted coconut flakes, which lends an earthy sweet chew for contrast. Good!

Despite the name, the Chicken Rice Tea (SGD $6) is actually a refreshing blend of lemongrass, cucumber, and pandan / screwpine leaves. The result is a vegetal herbal spice sweet flavour, tangy and tingly on the palate. I love the elegant-looking glass mug, but drinking from it can be a little messy. Pretty alright for a perk-me-up.

The Cocktail Rum Pum Pum (SGD $20) is a unique coffee infused cocktail, whose name calls to mind a song. It features a blend of espresso, dark rum, gula melaka / palm sugar, a burned rosemary twig, and milk foam. Stir in the rosemary, and slowly savour this sipping cocktail. You get the milky sweet notes on top, followed by the earthy bitter herbal sweet boozy flavours beneath. Suitably strong, with a good kick. Highly recommended!

A straightforward and decently executed Ham Eggs Benedict (SGD $18), served with crisp rocket leaves / arugula with vegetal earthy bitter herbal flavour, juicy soft slices of kiwi fruit with bright fruity sweet sour flavour, and crunchy pomegranate seeds with mild fruity sweet flavour. The eggs benedict itself consists of a base of crisp spongy English muffin with light bready sweet flavour, topped with slices of soft avocado with earthy vegetal sweet flavour, overlaid with chewy pork back bacon with smoky salty savoury flavour, and topped with a wobbly poached egg dressed in creamy hollandaise sauce. The poached egg is semi-runny, picking up the sauce to create a milky eggy sweet savoury flavour. Satisfyingly yummy. Good!

We loved the Home Made Banana Bread With Toasted Dal (SGD $7.50). The super soft crumbly banana bread has rich fruity sweet bready flavour, contrasted with the nutty earthy crunch of the toasted dal / lentils. The textural contrast is outstanding. Highly recommended!

Loved the super soft Ondeh-Ondeh Cake (SGD $7.50), with its spongy soft texture that yields easily. The cake is infused with pandan / screwpine leaf essence, layered in the middle with gula melaka / palm sugar, and topped with buttercream, giving it a bright earthy floral sweet flavour. A garnish of toasted coconut flakes lends a light chewy texture, with mild smoky earthy floral sweet flavour. Completed with a drizzle of sticky gula melaka / palm sugar, rounding off a fantastic dessert cake. Highly recommended!
