Opening in Singapore in January 2021, Qin Ji Rougamo is a fast-casual eatery specialising in Chinese Mandarin light bites and quick meals. Their stalls are small and tucked-away in quiet corners, yet still attract a good queue of people during meal times. Qin Ji Rougamo is known for their namesake, the iconic pastry roujiamo or rougamo, a type of Chinese burger.
Ambience at Qin Ji Rougamo is simple and casual. The warmly lit place is small, with just a few functional furnishings. There's minimal decor, mostly simple artwork. Queues usually form during peak meal times, but turnaround is fast.
Service at Qin Ji Rougamo is self-service, with ordering, payment, and collection over the counter. The menu is straightforward, lending little need for staff to interact or demonstrate product knowledge. Diners usually clear their own tables after meals.
Food at Qin Ji Rougamo is Chinese cuisine, focused on Sichuan / Szechuan and Shaanxi quick meals and light bites. Dishes are hot and fresh, prepared and served quickly. Portions are sized for individuals. Prices are reasonable, budget about SGD $17 per person for a set meal here.

There's a choice of sugar level for the Soy Bean Milk (SGD $3), which is light and smooth. The chilled soy bean milk carries lovely grainy earthy sweet flavour, even without added sugar. Good!

The Passionfruit & Lime Juice (SGD $4.50) is a blend of both passionfruit juice and lime juice, resulting in a fruity sour sweet zesty flavour. Served chilled, this was nicely refreshing. Good!

The Green Tea With Green Grape (SGD $4.50) is refreshing, not overly sweet. Just a simple light green tea, within which is placed slices of seedless green grapes. Has a fruity earthy sweet flavour, nice. Good!

The Mala Mouth-Watering Chicken (SGD $7.50) is also known as Salivating Chicken or Kou Shui Ji, is a classic Chinese Sichuan / Szechuan appetizer, featuring tender poached chicken in a vibrant mala peppercorn and chili oil gravy, garnished with fresh parsley and crunchy fried soy beans. Named for its gradual building of heat and numbness that grows on the palate as you eat, the punchy meaty sweet savoury salty spicy flavours are a blast. Nicely executed, has a medium grip of fiery numbness. Good!

The Black Fungus / Wood Ear Fungus (SGD $4.50) appetizer has a generous portion of crunchy slippery marinated black fungus / wood ear fungus, with vegetal earthy sweet spice flavour. Garnished with fresh spring onions and sliced red chili. Best shared to accompany a meal. Good!

The Qin Ji Braised Pork Rougamo (SGD $5.80) is a classic Chinese Shaanxi pastry. Also known as Roujiamo, the Rougamo features a filling of tender juicy braised pork loin and crunchy green bell peppers / capsicum, stewed for up to 10 hours with a range of spices and seasonings, finely chopped and stuffed within a crisp flaky baked wheat flatbread called Baijimo. Bite in with a satisfying crunch, the flatbread just falling away to release the robust filling, warm and comforting. Carries addictive meaty savoury salty sweet herbal vegetal bready flavours. A roujiamo / rougamo is not considered a full meal on its own, and is typically paired with other dishes. Highly recommended!

The Cumin Pork Rougamo (SGD $5.80) is functionally similar, but with added cumin seasoning. This doesn't quite change the taste profile as much as I'd like, it tastes about the same.

Bite in with a satisfying crunch, the flatbread just falling away to release the robust filling, warm and comforting. In a light but robust savoury salty spice broth, are chewy silky rice noodles with grainy sweet flavour, crunchy fried soy beans with grainy savoury salty flavour, crunchy pickled mustard greens with vegetal salty sour flavour, crisp bean sprouts with vegetal sweet flavour, tender braised beef flank with meaty savoury flavour, and fresh crisp parsley with vegetal bitter herbal flavour. Warms the body, nicely satisfying. Good!

In a light but robust savoury salty spice broth, are chewy silky rice noodles with grainy sweet flavour, crunchy fried soy beans with grainy savoury salty flavour, crunchy pickled mustard greens with vegetal salty sour flavour, crisp bean sprouts with vegetal sweet flavour, tender boneless snakehead fish fillets with sweet savoury flavour, and fresh crisp parsley with vegetal bitter herbal flavour.
