Started using the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 (GU605MV-QR057W) laptop in June 2024, and I've been very pleased with it thus far. Packing incredible computing performance within a slim well-built frame, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop is a reliable workhorse for gaming or creating; fast, powerful, and polished.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop features an elegant aluminium unibody case in eclipse grey colour that feels premium and elegant, measuring 1.64 centimetres height x 24.6 centimetres depth x 35.4 centimetres width, weighing in at just 1.85 kilograms. The cover is adorned with 28 mini light-emitting diodes (LEDs) in 7 different zones aligned in a diagonal slash (known as slash lighting), which can be programmed with a variety of illumination. The laptop lid can be opened up to 135 degrees, and sports a stealth hinge design. For audio, the Dolby Atmos 4-speaker configuration with dual force woofer, smart amplifier technology, and artificial intelligence noise-canceling, results in bold and clear sound.
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop boasts a large yet slim 16 inch organic light-emitting diode (OLED) screen, backed by a NVIDIA GeForce RTX™ 4060 G-Sync graphics processing unit (GPU), resulting in fast response times, decent brightness, and colors that look super vivid, calibrated to the Pantone® palette. Performs well in dark or bright environments, with the exception of glare under direct sunlight. The glossy display has a resolution of 2560 x 1600 pixels, with 16:10 aspect ratio. There's a 1080 pixel full high definition camera with advanced infrared imaging function, enabling facial recognition with Windows Hello, the accuracy and ease of use making login seamless and smooth; however, I was disappointed with the lack of a privacy shutter for security.

A veritable power house, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop has performance delivered through the Intel® Core™ Ultra 9 processor (16-core/22-thread, 24 megabyte cache, up to 5.1 gigahertz max boost) supported by an artificial intelligence neural processing unit (AI NPU). There's a 1 terabyte M.2 NVMe™ PCIe® 4.0 SSD (M.2 non-volatile memory express™, peripheral component interconnect express®, 4.0 solid state drive), supported by 2 x 16 gigabyte LPDDR5X (low power double data rate 5 times) and a Windows 11 Home operating system license. This just means a blazing fast performance, with boot-up and loading of apps taking literal seconds, suitable for heavy gaming or intensive photo and video editing.
The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop has a backlit chiclet keyboard (one red-green-blue [RGB] zone, 3 intensity levels) with no dedicated number pad, though the keyboard feels satisfying and comfortable to use. The large touchpad feels smooth and great to operate, with a muffled clicking noise that lends a premium feel. The 2nd Generation Arc Flow Fans™ within the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop, along with the liquid metal compound, dissipates heat efficiently but noisily through the 2 heatsinks.

The Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop has ports spread across both sides. The left has 1 x 200 watt outlet for power, 1 x high definition multimedia interface 2.1 fixed rate link (HDMI 2.1 FRL), 1 x Thunderbolt 4, 1 x universal serial bus (USB) 3.2 generation 2 type A, and 1 x 3.5 millimetre combo audio jack. The right has 1 x secure digital ultra high speed 2 (SD UHS-II) card reader, 1 x USB 3.2 generation 2 type A, and 1 x USB 3.2 generation 2 type C. There's reliable connectivity support for triple-band wireless fidelity 6 extension (wi-fi 6E, also known as the 802.11ax standard), as well as a Bluetooth® 5.3 wireless card.
Priced at SGD $3,799, the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop is bundled with 1 x power adapter, 1 x laptop sleeve, and up to 2 years of support for the warranty. I note the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 laptop has a battery duration of about 5 hours, with charging being pretty quick. Overall, I'm happy with the Asus ROG Zephyrus G16 (GU605MV-QR057W) laptop, would recommend it.
