During my visit to the MINT Museum Of Toys, it started to rain, so I decided to have lunch here, while waiting for the weather to clear up. The MINT Museum Of Toys offers dining in the form of Mr Punch Restaurant, and Mr Punch Winebar.

Mr Punch Restaurant is in the basement, and is accessible by the entrance. It's a rather small cafe, and the walls are adorned with a collection of old / classic signage and advertisments. Lends a suitable charm to the place.

Service at Mr Punch Restaurant is friendly and affable, but not memorable.

I had the Pan-Fry Soyu Tuna Loin With Sichuan Broken Soy Sauce, Tempura Asparagus, Crushed Mashed Potato And Chive Herbs.

Served medium rare, the Tuna Loin was firm, and wasn't dry. The Sichuan Broken Soy Sauce lent a nice spicy savoury taste to the dish. Quite enjoyable, and I found myself wishing the Tuna Loin was served in a bigger portion.

Prices are slightly steep though. Especially with the drinks... The Root Beer Float cost me SGD $5.

Will visit Mr Punch Restaurant again to try their Tapas menu.

Update Aug-2016: Returned to Mr Punch Restaurant after 4 years, glad they're still around. Ambience at Mr Punch Restaurant remains its strongest point, with modern, functional furniture neatly spaced within the warmly lit, albeit small, seating area. The decor remains the highlight here, with eclectic signboards and posters adorning the walls, though the full length wall mural now occupies the ceiling instead. Service at Mr Punch Restaurant remains very good, with staff being attentive and efficient, able to offer recommendations and displaying good menu knowledge. Personalised service, friendly, and observant. Food at Mr Punch Restaurant has changed, the menu has been expanded, though quality and taste of dishes here remain average at best. Prices are still slightly high for the quality, budget about SGD $32 per person for a meal here.

The Cocktail Encik Punch (SGD $19) is a tropical, fruity, Malaysian inspired cocktail. Made with a blend of rum, Campari fruit liqueur, and home made jackfruit syrup. With a light body, fruity aroma, sweet sour taste, and vibrant orange yellow colour, this cocktail is rather refreshing on a warm day. Served with sliced jackfruit pieces on the side.

The Sharing Platter (SGD $38) features a trio of items of your choice. The Pork Belly is coated in 12 different spices, wonderfully tender, moist, and fatty, with strong savoury salty flavour. Incredibly tasty, but we hated the weird tasting red wine apple chutney on the side. The Salmon Cake was nicely flaky and moist, meaty and fresh, but slightly over salted. The balsamic vinegar, orange juice, and caramel sauce drizzled over the top lends a nice sweet taste. The best item was the Chicken Thigh Roulade stuffed with feyel foie gras mousse. The chicken meat is nicely tender, with a smoky savoury salty sweet taste, followed by the earthy floral taste of the creamy foie gras mousse. Served with average potato chips, and a small iceburg lettuce and olive salad.

Loved the Teriyaki Charred Squid (SGD $12), featuring a medium-sized, fresh whole squid, nicely grilled to perfection. Drizzled with teriyaki sauce, with a bouncy, chewy texture, and a dual layer of sweet savoury flavour, this appetizer is simple, yet good. Highly recommended!
