Opening in March 2018, K.Star Karaoke is a family-friendly karaoke that is best known for its attractive, themed rooms that are playful and photo-worthy. With cute props and eye-catching decor throughout, taking lots of photos here is almost required. As a karaoke though, the range of songs at K.Star Karaoke is decently sufficient, though the catalogue is slightly smaller than elsewhere.
The flagship outlet of K.Star Karaoke has a total of 23 eye-catching themed rooms, each with stunning decor. Choose from designs including starry dreamscape, tropical nature, or popular anime / cartoons such as Pokémon, Hello Kitty, The Simpsons, or Sesame Street. Each room is comfortably furnished for between 6 to 35 people, with long plush lounge booth seats, and wide tables. Even the corridors are decorated, with heart-shaped sculptures on the ceilings and neon-lit artwork on the walls.
The ambience controls at K.Star Karaoke work well. You're able to choose from several lighting settings, from bright to discotheque. The audio equipment at K.Star Karaoke is above average. Being new, it's well-maintained, and easy to operate. The cordless microphones are dressed with hygiene covers and battery operated, if they run out of power, simply buzz staff to have it replaced. Song selection is performed in 2 ways, either using the touch screen panel, which is easy to navigate; or via your mobile browser. Either way, the song navigation interface is passably user-friendly, although I didn't like that the default language is Chinese Mandarin.
The song catalogue at K.Star Karaoke is wide, with a good range of songs, yet is limited compared to elsewhere. K.Star Karaoke offers songs in 7 different languages, including English, Chinese Mandarin, Cantonese, Hokkien, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Korean. They even have options for playing games and editing quirky photo collages in-room; nice-to-have but mostly unnecessary fringe options.
The service at K.Star Karaoke is good, with staff attending quickly when buzzed. They're familiar with the menu, and carry out requests efficiently. K.Star Karaoke has a wide range of drinks, with a small menu of decent finger food. They have no washroom in the premises. Prices at K.Star Karaoke are higher for the experience than elsewhere, largely because of the themed rooms, budget about SGD $43 per person for 3 hours. My overall experience at K.Star Karaoke was fun, with winning decor and a passably decent singing experience.

It took a short while to figure out the controls on the touch screen panel, but after that, it's fairly easy to use. However, the catalogue search isn't the most intuitive, requiring users to try permutations of words.

There's a good range of drinks available. As part of the room packages, you'll get the first serving of tidbits and drinks complimentary, though subsequent orders are chargeable. The Jug Of Cold Green Tea (SGD $Complimentary / $12) is your basic, straightforward, chilled green tea with slightly earthy sweet flavour.
The Beer Hoegaarden Wheat (SGD $9) is a well-known Belgian witbier, brewed by the Hoegaarden Brewery in the Hoegaarden municipality within the province of Flemish Brabant, in the Flanders region of Belgium. It has a hazy, pale yellow colour, with aromas of spices that went into making it, such as coriander and orange peel. The body is light and crisp, with a high carbonation, tastes of wheat, orange zest, banana, and pepper. Very refreshing and drinkable, sweet with low bitterness, and a short finish.

The tidbits here are passable at best. The Potato Wheel Crackers (SGD $Complimentary) have a soft crunch, with delicate potato starchy salty flavour. The Prawn Flavoured Crackers (SGD $Complimentary) have a firm satisfying crunch, with savoury salty shrimpy flavour. The Seaweed Flavoured Rice Crackers (SGD $Complimentary) have a hard crunch, with earthy grainy sweet salty flavour.
I like the generous serving of Popcorn Chicken (SGD $8.50). These battered chicken chunks are nicely moist with a light crunch, and good savoury salty spice flavour. The Squid Balls (SGD $8.50) are served piping hot and should be eaten quickly. These squid balls have a juicy bouncy bite, with bold sweet savoury flavour. Both are served with a chili dipping sauce on the side, and are decent enough.
