Established in December 1983 as Kele Confectionery by the parents of Adrian and Gordon Ang, the bakery was rebranded to simply 'Kele' in February 2017, when the brothers took it in a modern direction. As a result, Kele offers a small curated menu of traditional and modern baked goods, specialising in Chinese pineapple tarts and cookies, and Japanese roll cakes.
Ambience at Kele is casual and simple. There is no seating here, as their stalls are pure takeaway. But I love the bright, vibrant, eye-catching displays of their products. The colourful and bright displays look cheery and attractive.
Service at Kele is friendly and knowledgeable. Staff patiently answer questions about their products, from describing ingredients to recommending preferences. They work efficiently to pack orders for customers, so the queue moves smoothly.
Food at Kele is all about desserts, but also depends on which stall you go to; the original focuses on traditional Chinese confectionery, while the other focuses on modern French Japanese confectionery. Both offerings are specialities, executed to consistently high standards. Portions are designed for sharing. Prices are slightly more expensive for their expertise, budget about SGD $12 per person.

However, these desserts are given a Singaporean twist with modern and traditional flavours, with a total of 12 different varieties on the menu. New seasonal flavours are also introduced quarterly.
