Opened in April 2015 and headlined by the Les Amis Group's resident pastry chef, Tarte By Cheryl Koh is an award-winning dessert restaurant that offers artisanal tarts and confectioneries, baked from scratch throughout the day, everyday. Using only the best available ingredients sourced from around the world (and which are rare to find in Singapore), Tarte By Cheryl Koh has a good range of dessert tarts and pastries to satisfy any craving.
Ambience at Tarte By Cheryl Koh is elegant, minimalist, and bright. The white spotlights and clean marble finishes lend a sense of elegant opulence, while the clear glass displays accentuate the pretty dessert pastries on display. There's limited seating, but it's comfortable. Most folks order takeaway though.
Service at Tarte By Cheryl Koh is friendly, professional, and efficient. Staff are chirpy, offering polite greetings, and display good product knowledge of the dessert confectioneries. The work quickly, packing and presenting orders with a happy flourish. They only make 1 or 2 batches each day though, so there's greater variety at the start of each day.
Food at Tarte By Cheryl Koh is focused on Modern Singaporean dessert tarts and confectioneries. Handcrafted using rare ingredients sourced from around the world, each tart is a work of art for the eyes, each bite a burst of flavour for the palate. A seasonal tart created in collaboration with Shangri-La Hotel Singapore to celebrate the reopening of their Tower Wing, the Black Forest Tart (SGD $13) is their reinterpretation of the iconic German / Bavarian cake. This features 66% Mexique dark chocolate ganache, milk chocolate cream, dark chocolate mousse, kirsch-marinated Morello cherries, and a cherry jelly core, in a dark chocolate tart shell garnished with chocolate shavings. With textures of crumbly, soft, gelatinous, chewy, wispy, juicy, and bold flavours of boozy chocolatey sweet bitter sour fruity, this was pure indulgent delight. Especially love the kick of the liqueur. Highly recommended!

The seasonal Apple Crumble Tart (SGD $11) features red apple compote, English Canadian Gris apple slices, and French Golden Delicious apple slices, in a butter tart shell garnished with cinnamon spiced biscuit crumble. With textures of crumbly, soft, crisp, juicy, and bright flavours of fruity earthy sweet buttery, this was pretty straightforward and comforting. Unfortunate that the taste of the premium ingredients doesn't do enough to make this stand out, resulting in this dessert tart being just as good as other versions elsewhere. Could be improved.

In partnership with the tourism board for Chiba prefecture, Japan, the seasonal Sweet Potato Tart (SGD $11) was designed to celebrate the beni haruka satsumaimo varietal of sweet potato. It features mashed beni haruka satsumaimo sweet potato, topped with sweet potato mousse, covered with maple syrup flavoured meringue, in a butter tart shell garnished with a white chocolate chip snowflake. With textures of crumbly, creamy, crunchy, crisp, and mellow flavours of earthy honeyed sweet savoury milky nutty, this was surprising for its more pronounced chestnut-like notes. Good!

In partnership with The Fullerton Hotel Singapore, the Pineapple Rambutan Tart (SGD $11.25) was designed to enrich the dining experience of the hotel's guests, drawing on the rich history and heritage of the Fullerton buildings for inspiration. This features the quintessential Chinese New Year treat in an elevated form, with fresh Sarawak pineapple slices on roasted pineapple compote, in a butter tart shell garnished with a rambutan and gold leaf. With textures of crumbly, sticky, juicy, tender, and bright flavours of fruity sweet smoky, this definitely sets a festive mood. Good!

The classic Pandan Coconut Tart (SGD $7.50) features fresh pandan / screwpine leaf curd, on coconut frangipane (almond-flavoured pastry cream), in a butter tart shell garnished with toasted dessicated coconut and pandan / screwpine leaf cream. With textures of crumbly, soft, chewy, creamy, and comforting flavours of floral earthy sweet nutty smoky, this reminded me of that classic Singaporean breakfast - kaya toast. Highly recommended!

The classic Cheese Tart (SGD $7.50) features a blend of cream cheese and mascarpone, filled with white chocolate, in a butter tart shell. Lightly torched before serving, to create a smoky aroma and a slightly crisp surface to the cheese. With textures of crumbly, chewy, creamy, stringy, and robust flavours of cheesy savoury salty milky sweet, this will appeal to those that prefer something less sweet. Good!
