Introduction
Located about 40 minutes drive away from the Changi international airport in Singapore, Sofitel Singapore City Centre is a 5-star luxury hotel in Singapore's central business district. Located in the Guoco Tower mixed development, with ample shopping and dining destinations within walking distance, and offering beautifully appointed rooms with warm hospitality, Sofitel Singapore City Centre is a destination I would return to again for a repeat staycation.
Ambience
Ambience at Sofitel Singapore City Centre is posh and modern, with a contemporary sleekness. Ample natural light streams in through the tall glass windows, while polished marble and vibrant colours lend an elegant energised feel. Commissioned modern art pieces adorn the walls, while tasteful chandeliers glow upon the high ceilings. Corridors are wide and well-lit, and I like the ample natural greenery around the facilities. The Club Millésime lounge has a cozy, intimate feel, and is nicely relaxing.
Room
Rooms at Sofitel Singapore City Centre are spacious, clean, and comfortable. Stayed at the Luxury Club room, which had a comfortable king size bed, a large working desk, stable high speed wireless internet, a 49-inch smart television with a small range of cable channels, a Bose entertainment system (which I didn't use), and a Nespresso machine (which I did use). The bathroom is stocked with premium Lanvin amenities, and offers a rain shower as well as a deep bathtub with wooden bathtub caddy for an indulgent soak.
Food
Food at Sofitel Singapore City Centre is primarily Modern European cuisine, with a highlight on French and Australian cuisines. Mostly served at Racines, their in-house all-day dining restaurant, food quality is decent to above average, and portions are large and hearty, nicely fulfilling. Dishes tend to feature natural flavours and fresh ingredients. Both 1864 and Club Millésime serve small bites, desserts, beverages and cocktails, making them great for chilling, though 1864 has the edge of plush teddy bears to accompany each table. There's also ample dining options around the hotel, so you'll be spoilt for choice.
Service
Service at Sofitel Singapore City Centre is polite, efficient, and hard-working. We noticed staff will be deployed to serve at various areas throughout the hotel, as we recognised familiar faces wherever we went. Staff are polite, knowledgeable, helpful, and efficient at tasks. We note they work quickly, accord personalised attentiveness when speaking, and can be discreet. Requests are accomodated where possible, and promptly fulfilled, while reasonable explanations are politely stated if they cannot accede. Very warm and hospitable too, excellent service all around.
Facilities & Activities
The facilities and activities at Sofitel Singapore City Centre are focused on dining, business, and fitness. They offer several well-equipped meeting rooms and conference halls of various sizes, all in contemporary finishes. The focus on fitness is evident in the decent range of equipment in the gymnasium, and in case that's not enough, there's a club access to their partner Virgin Active Fitness, along with provision of workout gear in every room. The infinity pool is long but narrow, great for laps, less so for just floating around, as you'll get in other people's way. The lower levels of Guoco Tower, and the nearby Tanjong Pagar area, has plenty of shopping and dining options too.
