Sponsor Heineken had several bars around the circuit, offering the perfect way to cool off from the heat of the day, I visited them in both Zone 1 and Zone 4. The ice cold Beer Heineken Silver (SGD $14) was so refreshing, while the Cocktail Whisky Coke (SGD $15) was properly stiff and strong with boozy herbal earthy sweet woody flavour.

The Big Boy Franks food truck in Zone 1 drew long queues each night, with folks hungry for their hot dogs and burgers. The Just A Big Boy Hot Dog (Event Price SGD $12, Usual Price SGD $10.50) featured a tender juicy snappy sausage (beef or chicken, I got beef), sandwiched within crisp fluffy hot dog bread buns, generously glazed with creamy mayonnaise and rich nacho cheese sauce. Each messy bite gets you a bold smoky meaty savoury salty bready sweet milky cheesy flavour, yum. Size of the hot dog is roughly larger than an average open palm. Enjoyable, but so messy. Worth ordering!

The Smoke And Smoulder pop-up stall in Zone 1 offered the best meal I had at the Singapore Grand Prix Formula 1 Night Race 2022. The Philly Cheese Steak Roll (SGD $15) was so good. The crisp outside, soft inside, warm baguette bread roll is filled with tender juicy pulled beef flank, topped with rich nacho cheese sauce, garnished with crisp spring onions. Bite in, and you get lovely meaty savoury bready sweet vegetal salty cheesy flavour. Incredibly yummy and satisfying, I wish they had a regular stall I could visit. Highly recommended!

The Malaysian heavy metal rock legends Wings, led by frontman and vocalist Ahmad Azhar 'Awie' Bin Othman, brought a high-octane, power packed segment of heavy metal rock songs to the Padang Stage in Zone 4. Real rock out, with Kamarullizam 'Syam' Bin Kamarudin on main guitar, Edri 'Edrie' Bin Hashim on second guitar, Samsaidi 'Eddie' Bin Ulong Idris on bass, and Azmi 'Black' Bin Hashim on drums.

An indie-folk-pop outfit, American band Bandits On The Run comprises guitarist and suitcase drummer Adrian Blake Enscoe, cellist and multi-instrumentalist Sydney Torin Shepherd, and accordionist Regina Strayhorn. Themed around mischievous railway criminals of old, the fun-loving group’s signature three-part harmonic voices and sound defies musical genres, spanning shades of motown to electronic-pop to folk-soul to punk-rock, powerful and alluring all at once. Held at Zone 4, Esplanade Outdoor Theatre, this was a very enjoyable performance!

Singaporean hip-hop rapper Pek Jin Shen, better known by his stage name Shigga Shay, together with the Grizzle Grind Crew, brought the beats to the bay at Zone 4, Esplanade Outdoor Theatre. The team that took the stage included disc jockey / DJ Dhanish Nair 'DJ NashD', rapper singer Lineath Rajendran 'Lineath', beatboxer rapper singer Lim Jia Kang 'Zadon', and more. Infectious, quirky, playful lyrics in their raps.

The Greenwood Fish Market pop-up stall in Zone 4 had decent takeaway snacks, though I expected better from this premium seafood restaurant brand. Their Home Made Fish Cake (SGD $14) was generous and filling, with large fillets of battered cream dory fish, crisp outside and soft moist inside, with lovely sweet savoury salty flavour. The medium-cut potato chips were fluffy and crisp, with decent starchy salty savoury flavour. Paired with creamy tartar sauce and lemon juice which lends bright tangy sour zesty notes, although there was also supposed to be a peanut sauce. Worth ordering!

Grammy-nominated disc jockey / DJ Marshmello, secretly Christopher Comstock, and one of the world's most streamed, followed, and viewed artists, brought a high-energy party to round off Day 1 at the Padang Stage in Zone 4. The innovative Marshmello seamlessly spun some of his iconic tunes with his signature groove-oriented, synth, bass-heavy electronic dance music.

Decided to stop by the Shabestan pop-up stall in Zone 4 for a bite. The Falafel Kebab (SGD $15) was decent, nothing to shout about, with a healthy and wholesome feel, albeit slightly dry. Thankfully, the Cocktail Vodka Orange (SGD $14) helped, with its boozy tangy zesty sweet sour flavour, so refreshing and strong. Worth ordering!

The 2nd best meal I had at the Singapore Grand Prix Formula 1 Night Race 2022, was at the Smash Grill pop-up stall in Zone 4. The Fish And Chips (SGD $16) had small chunky boneless snapper fish fillets, coated in a thin crisp batter, while the fish meat within remains moist, flaky, and tender. Bite in and you get lovely sweet savoury salty flavour, yum. The crisp thin shoestring potato fries were piping hot with starchy salty savoury flavour, so good. Washed it down with a Mocktail Mint Lemonade Cooler (SGD $8), whose minty herbal tangy zesty sour sweet flavour was so refreshing. Highly recommended!

The American hip-hop rap-pop band, The Black Eyed Peas, brought a foot-stomping party to the Padang Stage in Zone 4. With singer-songwriter rapper William James Adams Junior 'will.i.am', rapper singer Allan Pineda Lindo 'apl.de.ap', rapper disc jockey / DJ Jaime Luis Gomez 'Taboo Nawasha', and newest member singer Jessica Reynoso 'J. Rey Soul', they showcased some of their most popular chart-topping hit songs. Even wet weather and a muddy field couldn't hold back the party people.

After browsing the extensive menu at the Jia He Chinese Restaurant pop-up stall in Zone 4, decided to settle for the safest, least messy, hand-held item; their BBQ Pork Wrapped In Soft Buns (SGD $10). This featured fluffy soft wheat buns, filled with tender succulent soy braised barbecued pork belly and crisp lettuce. With a decent ratio of fat to lean meat for the pork belly, the combination resulted in enticing meaty salty savoury fatty vegetal bready sweet flavour. Good!

The Phat Fingers Korean Fried Chicken pop-up stall in Zone 4 intrigued me with its long queue, so I decided to get something to try. The Korean Spicy Chicken Tenders (SGD $12 for 6 pieces) was coated in their signature yangnyeom sauce, and the chicken tenders were crisp outside and tender inside in texture. The thick yangnyeom sauce carried bright sweet spicy flavour, with the fiery heat starting as a tingle, and lingering as you eat, building to a potent burn. Super shiok. Highly recommended!

Award-winning, best-selling Irish boyband Westlife brought their easy-listening pop-folk songs to round off Day 2 at the Padang Stage in Zone 4. With co-lead singer Shane Steven Filan, tenor Nicholas Bernard James Adam Byrne Junior 'Nicky', bass Kian John Francis Egan, and co-lead singer Markus Michael Patrick Feehily 'Mark', they got the crowd singing along to their hit singles from the early 2000s. A nostalgic experience.
