This post might be biased, because I love hot dogs and that's no lie. But it's pretty apparent that in Singapore, not many others share a consistent craving for hot dogs, because such stalls tend to go out of business and close shop within a few years. And so, whenever I hear about a new hot dog brand, I'm equal parts excited and worried.
Opening in November 2020 in NEWest, Jumbadog is a casual American style diner eatery specialising in foot-long hot dogs. Their 2nd outlet in Jewel Changi Airport opened in September 2022. A play-on-words of 'jumbo hot dogs', their innovative range of international ingredients and flavours, along with the option to allow you to build-your-own hot dog, sets Jumbadog apart from other brands.
Ambience at Jumbadog is modern, casual, and functional. The small floor space is neatly lined with adequate furnishings that serve its purpose, a place to eat quickly and go. Most folks order takeaway, with the hot dogs packed in large, attractive boxes. The display of ingredients from which you can customise your order, looks pretty attractive.
Service at Jumbadog is friendly, efficient, and patient. Staff will explain the menu and hot dog customisation options, then make each to order. They work relatively quickly, and also clean up smoothly when diners leave. As they accord each customer good attention, this can sometimes lead to a short queue. Order fulfillment takes about 10 minutes or so.
Food at Jumbadog is American cuisine, focused on hot dogs, though flavours are international. They offer a good range of ingredient options; 2 types of hot dog bread buns, 8 varieties of sausages, 17 different ingredient toppings, and 16 sauces. There's also 15 house dogs with pre-selected combinations. Quality is above average, and portions are large. Prices are reasonable, budget about SGD $14 per person.

Loved their Potato Egg Salad (SGD $5.90), which is served in a large and generous portion. This features chunky tender potatoes, bound with a thick creamy egg mayonnaise, garnished with crunchy carrots and crisp spring onions. Each mouthful is a lovely burst of eggy starchy vegetal sweet flavour, so yummy. Highly recommended!

The Chicken Cheese Cocktail Sausages (SGD $3.90 for 10 pieces) is available on the children's menu. This has straightfoward chicken and cheese mini cocktail sausages, snappy and moist with meaty savoury salty flavour. It didn't appeal to me in taste; and is probably the weakest item among the other excellent treats here. Could be improved.
