Opened in February 202, Ryu Ichi is a delightful Japanese restaurant near the Farrer Park area of Singapore, a quiet hidden-find that offers a wallet-friendly omakase dining experience. Impressing guests with their exquisite quality, Ryu Ichi gets by on strong word-of-mouth, and reservations are recommended.
Ambience at Ryu Ichi has a zen, minimalist feel. Brightly lit, with comfortable cushioned seats and wood-top tables, the place is long, with the open kitchen spanning a length of its side. The place is generally quiet, allowing for good conversation.
Service at Ryu Ichi is attentive and informative. Staff accord each guest personalised attention, and are adept at describing each dish as they serve, particularly helpful since this is an omakase dining experience. They proactively offer to clear finished plates.

The Zensai - Sea Urchin, Tiger Prawn is clean-tasting and fresh, with a slippery succulent springy juicy chew to texture, and bright briny salty sweet savoury flavour. Features sashimi-grade fresh deshelled tiger prawns in a sauce of kombu seaweed and dashi / soup stock, topped with fresh sea urchin and edible flowers.

The Sashimi - Tuna Fish Belly, Scallop, Tiger Prawn, Greater Amberjack Fish, Sea Urchin, Surf Clam, Flying Fish Roe was a delicious platter. The luscious bluefin tuna fish fatty belly was succulent with a juicy springy texture, and a meaty savoury fatty flavour. The bouncy fresh scallop and crunchy fresh deshelled tiger prawn both have sweet savoury flavour, while the fresh greater amberjack fish has meaty savoury sweet flavour. The slippery gooey fresh sea urchin has briny salty flavour, while the surf clam has a dense bouncy chew with neutral salty sweet flavour. The juicy globules of flying fish roe burst with briny salty flavour.

Celebrated a birthday, so staff surprised us with the Desato - Tiramisu Cake. This had a spongy soft base of ladyfinger biscuits / sponge fingers, a layer of creamy mascarpone cheese, and dustings of cocoa powder. Has pleasant earthy toasty milky sweet cakey flavour.
