The idea behind Green Dot was first conceived in August 2011, when the founders set up a stall in Temasek Polytechnic's Design School. Green Dot was launched to change the perception that pure vegetarian food was tasteless and boring, and with their Asian fusion vegetarian menu, the founders of Green Dot wanted to encourage more people to go meat free. Their tasty yet healthy food, served in a quick, casual setting, has since propelled them to mainstream success. In recent months, I find myself dining at Green Dot more frequently, having decided to eat clean and be more healthy.

Ambience at Green Dot is clean, bright, and welcoming. The spacious, open concept restaurant is styled as a casual eatery, with a mix of modern wooden furniture for both small and large groups. A salad bar and order counter frames the open kitchen where you can see chefs at work. The brightly lit interior has colour themes of green, white, and wood, very calming and clean looking.

Service at Green Dot is good. Staff welcome guests as they enter, seating diners quickly. Ordering and payment is self-service via an online system, but orders are served to your table. You can also opt to queue and order at the counter. Staff are knowledgable on the various menu items, and can briefly describe each dish. I note they're efficient at cleaning tables, while orders are usually served within 5 minutes.

Food at Green Dot is meat free, pure Asian fusion vegetarian. Ingredients are fresh, cooked simply to allow the natural taste to shine, and each dish is delightfully fresh and exciting to behold. Taste is good, the food is delicious, and you'll almost forget there is no meat here! Portions are nicely sized for 1 person, and prices are affordable and wallet friendly, budget about SGD $18 per person for a meal with drinks.

.....

Beyond the obvious use of fresh vegetables and fruits, I like that Green Dot uses mushroom seasoning to lend bigger flavour to their dishes. Wholesome, without a doubt.

The Honey Citron Tea (SGD $3.70) was tame, the flavours coming through delicately. Despite the thick chunky slides of yuzu zest and dollop of honey within, it doesn't quite diffuse or infuse properly into the chilled beverage, lending just a mild fruity floral sour zesty sweet flavour. Has a diluted taste as a result, cannot recommend. Could be improved.
