Description:
The Honey Sea Coconut And Nata De Coco is a Singaporean Chinese dessert that consists of finely shaved ice topped with syrup, palmyra fruit, and coconut water gelatine / jelly. Also known as Palmyra Fruit And Coconut Water Jelly, or Toddy Palm Fruit And Coconut Water Gel, the Honey Sea Coconut And Nata De Coco is usually priced around SGD $3 to $5 per serving. It's normally eaten for dessert.

Always served chilled, the Honey Sea Coconut And Nata De Coco begins with a base of shaved ice, finely crushed by an electric ice shaver till it forms a small mound within the bowl. This is then topped with a simple sugar syrup, usually a blend of white sugar and water, giving it a basic sweet flavour. The 2 iconic toppings that give the dessert its name are then added on top.

The first topping for the Honey Sea Coconut And Nata De Coco, is the processed and canned honey sea coconut, also known as palmyra fruit, or toddy palm fruit. The flesh of this fruit, which is springy soft with a gelatinous texture, is immersed in a syrup of honey, white sugar, and water, resulting in a unique caramel brown colour and a floral earthy sweet flavour.

The second topping for the Honey Sea Coconut And Nata De Coco, is the processed and canned nata de coco, also known as coconut water gelatine / jelly, or coconut water gel. This has a similar springy soft gelatinous texture, a vibrant white translucent colour and a floral earthy sweet flavour. Other toppings, such as longan, lime, canned fruit, or rainbow jelly balls, may also be added. Together, the Honey Sea Coconut And Nata De Coco makes for a refreshing dessert.
