Yes, we dined at The Boat Shed restaurant 3 times in 3 days, in 2 different outlets at La Perouse and Pyrmont. The building that houses The Boat Shed restaurant in La Perouse has been rebuilt, restored, or refreshed on-and-off since 1968, the latest incarnation since September 2018. Their sister restaurant The Boat Shed in Pyrmont opened in May 2022, and offers a slightly different menu with more options of live seafood.

Ambience at The Boat Shed evokes a maritime feel, with wooden furnishings, warm lights, and shades of blue, white, and brown. Both outlets offer a mix of indoor and outdoor seating, the latter being the preferred choice of most diners, as the nearby harbour views are beautiful. Both outlets are typically bustling during meal times, with busy activity and queues out the door. Advance reservations are recommended.

Service at The Boat Shed is friendly and efficient. The staff move quickly, be it greeting and seating guests, taking orders, or cleaning up when diners leave. They display adequate product knowledge, though some queries required checking. Good engagement from the more experienced staff, who check for feedback on your meal. Payment is self-service over the counter. Parking availability however, is limited.

Food at The Boat Shed is a mix of American, British English, Italian, Japanese, and Chinese cuisine, all focused on fresh seafood. Experience is Modern Casual, with a good range of beverages and wines. There's something enticing about relaxing with seafood and wine by the sea. Portions are medium to large for individuals. Prices command a premium, rather expected for seafood, budget about AUD $77 / SGD $68 per person.

Enjoyed the Sashimi Platter (AUD $49), with its medium-thick slices of fresh sashimi. While the filleting isn't as refined, it's sufficiently adequate, and the freshness more than makes up for it. A good sampler or light meal, would order again. Good!
