Service at The Golden Wattle is welcoming and friendly, though queues to order are a bit disorganised. Staff engage in friendly jovial banter, display some product knowledge, and clean up efficiently. Food at The Golden Wattle is Modern Australian pub classics inspired by British English cuisine, as well as in-house experimental creations. Quality is consistently good, and ingredients are fresh. Portions are large for individuals. Prices are comparable to elsewhere, budget about AUD $35 per person.

A dash of lemon juice lends a zingy zesty tangy sour flavour, contrasting the richness. Served with a fresh crisp mesclun salad (lettuce, baby spinach, mizuna, radicchio, rocket leaves / arugula) with bright vegetal bitter herbal earthy sweet flavour, and fluffy crisp medium-sized potato fries / chips with starchy salty sweet savoury flavour. Highly recommended!

The in-house restaurant of Pullman Adelaide hotel, Salt Restaurant opened in October 2017. An expression of fresh seasonal produce, the dishes at Salt Restaurant showcases contemporary Australian creations with a touch of French and Italian flair. There's also a beautiful bar here straight out of a Wes Anderson movie.
Ambience at Salt Restaurant is comfortable and suitable for lingering meals, though the place is noisy and buzzing at breakfast. Service at Salt Restaurant is friendly but leisurely, with staff according guests good attention. Cleaning up is done slowly, and there isn't a proper queue system which can have disorderly results. Food at Salt Restaurant is Modern Australian cuisine, made with fresh ingredients. Quality is slightly above average, served in large hearty portions.

The buffet breakfast was part of our hotel package. Sampled the Aussie Big Brekky / Scrambled Eggs Breakfast (AUD $Part Of Package); the scrambled eggs were perfectly fluffy soft with milky eggy sweet flavour, the nicely sautéed button mushrooms were bouncy juicy with vegetal earthy salty savoury flavour, the large pork back bacon rashers were crisp chewy with smoky meaty salty savoury fatty flavour, the chunky roasted potatoes were tender with starchy salty savoury flavour, and the warm baked beans in tomato sauce was soft with vegetal earthy sweet flavour. Good!

This had a fluffy gooey soft texture, nice and lovely, with an eggy sweet savoury salty vegetal flavour. The chunky roasted potatoes were tender with starchy salty savoury flavour, while the fresh kale was crisp with vegetal herbal bitter sweet flavour. Good!

The iconic Australian Pie Floater (AUD $15.50) has a regional variation here, with the palm-sized pie pastry crust filled with tender juicy beef steak chunks and soft carrots, generously covered with a soup of creamy mushy peas (made from stewed marrowfat peas) and thick tomato ketchup, without the use of mashed potatoes. This style was invented right here in Adelaide by this brand. A hearty labourer's lunch, this carries bold vegetal grassy earthy sweet buttery meaty salty savoury peppery spice flavour. Good!

No surprise to see the Lamington (AUD $5.35) here, as they are a producer of the dessert for supermarkets and convenience stores. The square sponge cake is coated in a layer of chocolate and grated coconut, and has a soft spongy texture, with bright fruity sweet chocolatey flavour. Rather satisfying. Worth ordering!

We opted for Oyster Oliver / Oyster Mignonette with its slippery crunchy juicy texture and bright sharp sour zesty vegetal sweet briny salty flavour, the Oyster Kilpatrick with its slippery chewy soft texture and robust smoky meaty salty savoury sweet herbal flavour, the Oyster Darleyfella with its slippery creamy soft gooey texture and bold cheesy salty vegetal sweet flavour, and the Oyster Panko with its slippery creamy crunchy soft texture and lovely bready savoury salty sweet flavour. Enjoyed it all. Highly recommended!
