Established since April 2016, Birds Of A Feather has garnered acclaim for their unique modern contemporary take on Chinese Sichuan cuisine. No in-your-face fiery burning sensations here, instead, their dishes elevate the bold flavours of the cuisine to an elegant art form. Coupled with the refined service and comfortable ambience, Birds Of A Feather is great for long lingering meals throughout the day.

Ambience at Birds Of A Feather is comfortable, eclectic, and plush. The warmly spot lit place has a black tiled floor, offset by ample natural light from the sun roofs, and faux greenery lending a lush feel. Wide and sturdy wooden tables along the walls are flanked by large sofas, great for groups. Hand-crafted art and copper pipes exude an industrial chic vibe, while a wall of decorative light bulbs next to the glass-walled kitchen emits a soft attractive glow. A long bar, stocked with all manner of bottles, completes the look.

Service at Birds Of A Feather befits a fine dining establishment (though it's not). Staff are immaculately dressed, according guests personalised attention when speaking. They demonstrate good product knowledge, able to describe components of dishes. I note they clean up tables quickly when diners leave, and also offer to clear finished plates throughout the meal. While you may have to sometimes request for a change of plates / cutlery, requests are fulfilled expeditiously. Staff also have a professional bearing, and make you feel welcome.

Food at Birds Of A Feather is Modern Chinese Sichuan cuisine. Think elements of that familiar spicy flavours, but elevated and refined for the discerning. Never too punchy or painful on the palate, each dish is masterfully crafted with fresh ingredients by Chef Eugene See and his kitchen team. Bold yet balanced in flavour, each plate is also a visual work of art, carefully plated to showcase the ingredients. Portions are medium to large size for individuals, but can also be shared. Prices naturally reflect the excellent standards, budget about SGD $54 per person.

The Cocktail Oriental Negroni (SGD $28) offers a modern twist of East-Meets-West. It features a blend of gin, Campari bitter liqueur, and vermouth fortified wine, accompanied by a sprig of rosemary, Mandarin orange zest, and Mandarin orange sorbet, served over ice. Has a bright fruity zesty sour tangy bitter sweet herbal boozy flavour, a symbol of good fortune and a wish for future prosperity and joy. Good!

The Osmanthus Salmon (SGD $16 For 2 Pieces) features a base of crisp spongy toasted brioche bread, topped with a creamy chunky salmon fish mousse drizzled with red chili oil, tender crunchy smoked bamboo shoots, tender pliant salmon fish fillet cured with osmanthus flower oil, wobbly gelatinous osmanthus gelatin jelly, and bits of osmanthus flowers. Bite into the morsel, and the complex layers of smoky fishy savoury floral earthy sweet nutty spice bready flavour burst through. Interesting and refreshing, pleasant and unique combination. Good!

The Argentinian Shrimp Crudo (SGD $24) is a new 2025 creation, a visually appealing tropical burst of flavours. Fresh long crunchy tender succulent raw deshelled Argentinian shrimp are dressed with a ginger pineapple syrup, thin red chili oil, creamy coriander purée, and a unique mountain pepper oil powder. Completed with a juicy salsa of cherry tomatoes, pineapple, and red chili. Each bite bursts with sweet savoury vegetal earthy fruity spice peppery herbal flavour. Good!

The Find The Chicken In The Chillies (SGD $19), also known as Laziji / Firecracker Chicken / Mala Chicken, features marinated then deep-fried pieces of boneless chicken chunks, tossed with dried Sichuan chilli pepper, spicy bean paste, Sichuan mala peppercorn, garlic, ginger, leeks, spring onions, and white sesame seeds. Each satisfying bite of the crispy tender chicken releases a bold savoury salty spicy flavour, tingling the palate and piquing the appetite. Whole cashew nuts, crunchy and firm with nutty savoury flavour, lend a nice contrast. Yummy and addictive, among the best renditions I've had. Highly recommended!

The Burnt Chili Baby Squid (SGD $21) is a creative and novel appetizer, featuring tender chewy whole baby squid stuffed with crunchy crisp deep-fried squid tentacles, creamy thick fava bean ragout, and creamy thick mentaiko / marinated pollock fish roe sauce blended with burnt red chili. Carries beautiful contrasting savoury sweet earthy nutty salty spice smoky flavour. Accompanied with firm crunchy edamame / immature soy beans with earthy nutty vegetal flavour, juicy sun-dried red chili with vegetal spice flavour, and crisp crunchy furikake chips with earthy nutty savoury salty spice flavour. Highly recommended!

The Barramundi Chazuke (SGD $36) is now on its 6th revision. This latest version features a classic hearty Sichuan / Szechuan stew of pickled mustard greens, sautéed romaine lettuce, garlic, ginger, peppercorns, leeks, spring onions, and Japanese white rice, in a warm fish bone soup / broth that has been stewed for hours. The ingredients are soft and tender while the soup / broth carries robust grainy sweet savoury sour salty earthy spice flavours. The medium large slab of pan-fried barramundi fish fillet sits on top, with a garnish of juicy ikura / salmon fish roe that bursts with briny salty flavour. The boneless barramundi fish fillet is tender flaky moist, with a smoky sweet savoury flavour that is nicely enticing. The bubbling stew looks so appetizing when served. Highly recommended!

The Duo Scallop And Daikon (SGD $48) is a luxurious plate, with tender juicy braised daikon cut to resemble the tender bouncy seared scallops and raw scallop, such that it requires some scrutiny to visually distinguish. The former bursts with smoky vegetal earthy savoury sweet flavour, while the latter carries smoky sweet savoury salty flavour. Served over a thick creamy cauliflower blancmange with vegetal sweet milky flavour, dotted with springy soft couscous and lentils with grainy earthy sweet nutty flavour, crunchy crisp bubu arare / rice cracker pearls with grainy salty sweet flavour, and draped with wispy thin chewy premium jamón ibérico de bellota / cured free-range acorn-fed black hoof Iberian ham with meaty salty savoury nutty flavour. Finished with a coriander tuile (a French style baked wafer) which lends a distinctive visual, though it's light on taste. Highly recommended!

Inspired by an American Southern appetiser, the Summer Salad With 4 Peppers Dressing (SGD $88 Set, 1 Of 3 Dishes) is delicious and refreshing. The salad features cubes of juicy watermelon, juicy cherry tomatoes, crisp spinach leaves, juicy bits of grated black olives, and creamy black olive emulsion. Dressed with balsamic vinegar, 4 peppers sauce (a blend of crushed black, white, green, and pink peppercorns), and olive oil. This carries bright fruity sweet vegetal earthy herbal sour zesty tangy spice flavour. Addictive, couldn't stop reaching for more. Highly recommended!

The Whole French Chicken In 2 Seasons - 4 Peppers Roasted Crown (SGD $88 Set, 2 Of 3 Dishes) features medium thick slices of roasted French chicken breast seasoned with 4 peppers sauce (a blend of crushed black, white, green, and pink peppercorns), tender and moist and succulent, carrying lovely smoky meaty sweet savoury salty peppery spice flavour. Leaves of fresh spinach, crisp with vegetal herbal sweet flavour, lend a refreshing feel. The gravy base is unique, with a thin burst of citrusy herbal earthy sweet sour tangy zesty flavour, yum. Highly recommended!

Roulades of dark and light spiced braised chicken leg meat, tender and chewy with meaty savoury sweet salty spice flavour, are stacked amongst whole tender baby carrots with vegetal sweet flavour, tender dense trumpet mushrooms with vegetal earthy savoury flavour, and tender soft ratte potatoes with starchy salty sweet earthy flavour. Completed with crispy crunchy lotus root chips with earthy savoury salty flavour. It's rich and decadent, enticing and appealing. Highly recommended!

The Jujube & Strawberry (SGD $18) dessert is now on its 2nd revision. It features a soft crumbly jujube cake with buttery sweet fruity flavour, tender dried and fresh strawberry slices with fruity sweet flavour, a thick jujube strawberry compote with fruity sour sweet flavour, a crunchy almond sable with nutty bready sweet flavour, and creamy jujube mascarpone cremeux which contrasted beautifully with fruity cheesy salty savoury sweet flavour. Highly recommended!

The Glutinous Rice Cake Rock (SGD $18) is a decadent dessert treat. The base is a firm sticky dense glutinous rice cake infused with charcoal, carrying grainy earthy nutty smoky sweet flavour. Topped with fine kinako / roasted soy bean flour, crisp airy sesame parfait, crunchy peanut crumble, and sticky red sugar caramel sauce, combining to lend a robust candied earthy nutty sweet flavour. Finished with crunchy pomegranate seeds for a fruity sour zesty sweet flavour burst. Highly recommended!
