What I like about the Kawaii Bento book / cookbook is how easy it is to read. Layout is linear and structured, with large, colourful, gorgeous photographs, and clear yet concise, step-by-step instructions to guide readers along. Ingredients, tools, and techniques are not only clearly explained, but illustrated through photographs as well. A handy measurement conversion chart is provided, as well as sample stencil templates. She's also included a list of stores in Singapore where you can purchase any items needed!

Recipes in Kawaii Bento are easy to follow, and I like that there is even a difficulty rating! Perhaps the only thing I missed within this cookbook is the overall total time for each recipe, as timings are only stated are for each individual step of the preparation, you'll have to manually calculate / guess how long the entire process of making a bento will take.

Overall, I like the Kawaii Bento book, and I think it makes a great gift to inspire home cooks, or home bakers, as many of the ideas within are applicable not only to Japanese bento sets, but to baking as well. Kawaii Bento is retailing for SGD $34.24, and is available at most major Singapore bookstores, including Kinokuniya Singapore and Popular Holdings.
