Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory (pronounced Chee-Ru Chee-Ru), a popular Korean fried chicken franchise from South Korean with over 100 outlets, opened its doors in Singapore in February 2015. Specialising in 3 distinct styles of Korean fried chicken; crisp, spicy barbecue, and garlicky, Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory has quickly attracted long queues for its tasty, uniquely presented dishes.
Ambience at Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory is modern industrial, with touches of quirky / whimsical. The gray concrete walls are dotted with various objects, typcially with a farm or chicken theme, such as egg cartons or feeding trays. Furniture is clean and comfortable, and they'll able to shift it around to accomodate large groups. Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory has a buzzing, noisy atmosphere, they typically play background Korean music at loud volumes, which causes diners to speak much louder.
Service at Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory is decent. The long waiting / queue times is alleviated somewhat by the friendly staff handing out menus, and taking orders even before you're seated. However, food is prepared to order, with fresh produce, so order fulfillment can take 15 minutes or so. Do not visit Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory if you're very hungry, or in a rush, as total waiting time can stretch up to 1 hour. Staff are efficient, turning over empty / dirty tables quickly, and are knowledgable enough to make recommendations and provide general descriptions of each dish. Payment however, is self-service.
Food at Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory focuses on Korean fried chicken, or Chimaek. This means fried chicken prepared in a South Korea style, with crisp crackling skin, and chicken that has been marinated with spices. Generally, I find their fried chicken to be tasty, though somewhat lagging behind in texture, not the best around. Portions are large, designed for a minimum of 2 diners, and must be shared. Prices are comparable to other such Korea style restaurants, budget about SGD $30 per person. I personally feel it's not that great value for money, as you'll be able to get better food elsewhere.

The trendy restaurant typically sees queues of up to 1 hour during peak periods, although certain non-peak periods have no waiting time at all. I personally feel it's not worth queuing for more than 30 minutes to dine here.

The Chir Cream Beer (SGD $13.90 for 350ml, $18.90 for 650ml) is a basic Carlsberg beer, topped with whipped cream! Such a simple idea, it's a wonder no one else has thought of this yet! The experience of drinking this is similar to drinking a milkshake or eating a sundae, the creamy texture complimenting the light golden beer. Fun, but slightly messy to consume.

The Honey Grape Salad (SGD $18.90) is a refreshing, unique salad. Made with a mix of juicy seedless green / red grapes, pine nuts, walnuts, almonds, raisins, honey, lemon juice, ricotta cheese, and whipped cream, garnished with crisp tortilla shards. A delightful combination of textures, crunchy, juicy, soft, creamy, chewy; and a pleasant mix of tastes, sweet, tart, sour, milky, fruity, nutty. Unique and novel idea, very refreshing and not heavy as an appetizer. Highly recommended!

I wasn't too happy with the Garlicky Tenders (SGD $26.90) because of its rather firm chicken meat, that bordered on being dry. And while the soy sauce lent good flavour, it also made the overall dish rather salty. But I did like the non-greasy meat, and crisp, flavourful skin, as well as the fragrant aroma of the crunchy garlic flakes and lemon juice. The boneless chicken tenders / chunks are served over sweet caramelised sweet potato cubes, and savoury sauteed Ddukbokki / Tteokbokki / Sweet & Spicy Rice Cakes. Overall tasty dish, but I won't order this again.

The Rosemary Roasted Chicken (SGD $29.90) features a whole, oven roasted / barbecue / grilled chicken, served on a hot plate. Extremely fragrant and mouth watering aroma from the rosemary herbs, I noticed that the bone-in chunks of chicken (wings, drumstick, thigh, rib) were tender and moist, while the boneless chicken chunks (breast) were semi-firm and dry. This seems to be a consistent problem throughout all their dishes. Served along with a rather average baked potato topped with sour cream, a bell pepper / capsicum salsa, and an average hard boiled egg. I can do without the sides, it doesn't really add much to this dish. Still worth ordering for the fragrant bone-in chicken, which has a savoury, slightly crisp skin and tender chicken meat which pulls away easily from the bone, absolutely tasty. Overall, this is an above average dish, worth a try!

The Garlicky Chicken (SGD $28.90) features a whole fried chicken coated with savoury soy sauce, dried red chili, and crunchy garlic flakes. Unlike the Garlicky Tenders, this is served without any other ingredients. The bone-in chunks of chicken are fragrant, tender and juicy, possibly the most juicy chicken dish I've had here. However, the boneless chicken chunks suffers from the same semi-firm and dry texture. The chicken skin is just as crisp and non-greasy, and big on flavour. Overall, a very good dish!

Update Nov-2016: Over the last 1 year plus, Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory has continually drawn long queues in all their outlets. Glad to say they've not only kept up standards, but expanded the menu, though dining here is still not the most affordable. At Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory, ambience remains clean, bright, casual, and comfortable, as the Korean music videos playing in the background have been toned down. The service remains friendly and efficient, though still possibly overwhelmed by the queues. However, it's good to see that staff make an effort to be attentive to diners. Their food remains excellent, tasty and well seasoned, and the range of options is wider now, offering more variety. Overall, Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory remains a decent casual dining option.
We agreed the Chir Cheese Fries (SGD $9.90) was pretty good. Solid potato flavour, piping hot and fluffy within, the dish is coated with earthy black olives and a gooey mix of yummy cheese. I like that it's well balanced, neither too salty nor cloying. Worth ordering!

The Garlic Roasted Chicken (SGD $32.90) was extremely delicious! A whole, oven roasted / barbecue / grilled chicken, served on a hot plate, coated in fragrant, intense garlic sauce. Served along with a rather average baked potato topped with sour cream, a bell pepper / capsicum salsa, and an average hard boiled egg. The chicken meat is juicy, tender, and pulls away from the bone easily. At once savoury, salty, sweet, and pungent, the flavours coat the palate delightfully, enticing you to eat more. Highly recommended!

Loved the unique Honey Butter Chicken (SGD $28.90), with its crisp outside, tender and juicy inside, boneless chicken chunks coated in sugar and honey. Served with battered Ddukbokki / Tteokbokki / Sweet & Spicy Rice Cakes and potato wedges tossed in the same mix, the interesting flavours of strong sweet and mild savoury make this seem rather like a dessert, instead of an appetizer. A creamy honey butter sauce makes each mouthful tastier. Rather addictive, completely decadent. Highly recommended!
