A popular karaoke franchise in Japan, Manekineko Karaoke first opened its doors in Singapore in August 2015, and is operated by K Box Karaoke. The auspiciously named karaoke, a combination of the Japanese words for "Fortune (Maneki)", and "Cat (Neko)", stands in stack contrast to other, traditional karaoke franchises. Manekineko Karaoke has a brightly lit, youthful ambience, is family-friendly, has a good selection of songs with decent equipment, and even offers an unlimited supply of selected snacks and beverages, all at wallet-friendly, affordable prices.
Manekineko Karaoke has various room sizes for all types of groups. The rooms are brightly lit, clean, and spacious, with comfortable modern furnishings that feel so inviting. Some rooms even have children's play areas. Prices are very affordable, costing about SGD $15 - $33 per person, for 2 - 3 hours singing time, easily amongst the cheapest karaokes in Singapore. The price is inclusive of selected snacks and beverages from the free-flow, self-service bar. For those who are more hungry, Manekineko Karaoke offers a snack menu with a good selection of finger food. While these dishes are not included in the karaoke price (add-on ala-carte costs), it allows for greater convenience for visitors. Pretty decent for a non-restaurant.
The audio equipment at Manekineko Karaoke is good, being clear, audible, and well-maintained. The cordless microphones are battery operated, and if they run out of power, simply approach the counter to have it replaced. However, I realise they don't provide microphone covers, which lowers their standing for hygiene. Song selection is performed in 2 ways, either though the touch screen mounted on the wall, which is easy to navigate; or via an app which you download to your mobile. Either way, the song navigation interface is user-friendly and clear, and offers good search function. The song catalogue is extensive, and more importantly, updated with current songs. Manekineko Karaoke offers songs in 14 different languages, including English, Chinese Mandarin, Malay, Tamil, Korean, Japanese, Thai, and more.
The service at Manekineko Karaoke is largely self-service, where booking and payment is done over the counter, and you also help yourself to food and beverages. The young staff are friendly and chirpy, going about their tasks quickly and efficiently. I note they're quick at responding to requests, though they do lack some product knowledge if questioned. Location for most of their outlets is conveniently around heartland areas or in malls, making them easily accessible by youth or families. My overall experience at Manekineko Karaoke was very good, and I will return for more!

There is a good variety of both hot and cold drinks here. And while you're only provided 1 cup, you can swap drinks by washing out the cup at the sink here. Nearly every drink / beverage is complimentary, including the Yam Soy Milk, Milo, and White Coffee. Only alcohol incurs an additional cost, such as the Beer Singha (SGD $9) or other hard liquour.

For snacks and other finger food, only the Chicken Wheel Crisps, Chicken Isosceles Crisps, and the Soft Serve Ice Cream is complimentary. All other food items incur an additional charge, and there is a decent variety of options on the menu. The Mentai Chicken Gyoza (SGD $7) is decent, with a crisp exterior that cracks nicely to reveal a moist interior, and a good salty savoury taste.
