Founded in June 2000, Lavender Confectionery & Bakery is a boutique, artisanal bakery and patisserie based in Johor Bahru, Malaysia, that has since expanded into the cafe, bistro, and restaurant business. Lavender Confectionery & Bakery is particularly known for using Japanese and French pastry making techniques, resulting in premium quality desserts and baked goods.
Ambience at Lavender Confectionery & Bakery is modern functional, similar to most cafes. Warmly lit, with functional wooden and metal furniture, decently comfortable for relaxing. The biggest draw is their vast, attractive displays of baked goods, from bread to cakes to pastries. You could spend awhile just browsing the appetizing rows of items!
Service at Lavender Confectionery & Bakery is largely self-service for the baked goods, but tableside service for the restaurant. The mostly young staff carry out their duties competently, but not exactly professionally. Generally, the service standard is passable, but nowhere close to premium or restaurant standards. Rather forgettable, they perform poorly if things go wrong.
Food at Lavender Confectionery & Bakery is modern European, styled after French, Italian, and Japanese. The highlight are their baked goods, which usually attract long queues. Taste is excellent, really good quality on a consistent basis. Portions are sized for individuals. Prices are relatively more expensive than other cafes, which means Lavender Confectionery & Bakery tends to attract more tourists. Budget about MYR RM26 / SGD $8.50 per person for a dessert with a drink here.

Loved the refreshing Cold Chocolate (MYR RM17 / SGD $5.50), for its thick and rich chocolate flavour. Not overly sweet, which is nice.

A pretty decent Latte (MYR RM15 / SGD $4.80), robust with good flavour notes of roast coffee. An alright order if you're chilling here.

Heard very good reviews about the Hanjuku Cheesecake (MYR RM3.80 / SGD $1.30 for 1 piece, MYR RM15.20 / SGD $4.90 for 4 pieces, MYR RM22.80 / SGD $7.30 for 6 pieces). It didn't disappoint! The Japanese style blend of cream cheese is light and airy, with a creamy souffle-like texture. Delicately sweet and cheesy. Rich yet doesn't feel cloying. So good. Highly recommended!

The Nama Chocolate Cake (MYR RM16.90 / SGD $5.40 for 1 box) makes me want to swear, because it's so damn good. The ultimate chocolate cake, rich and thick with chocolate flavour, moist but dense in texture. So decadent it's impossible to finish it in 1 sitting. Bold chocolate flavour, but not overly sweet, this delicious dessert cake is heavy. Highly recommended!

The Hanjuku Cheese Tart (MYR RM6 / SGD $2 for 1 tart, MYR RM33 / SGD $10.70 for 6 tarts) will appeal to most, with its rich, creamy, cheesy centre, and its crumbly, buttery pastry tart crust. It's much better than most other versions I've tried in Singapore. Worth ordering!
