Launched in October 2015, Cajun On Wheels is a halal certified seafood place that serves American Louisiana style seafood buckets, offering a taste of French Creole and Cajun culture. Also known as C.O.W., Cajun On Wheels is uncomplicated in their dishes, bringing fresh, natural flavours to the table, though each meal is a delicious mess, and the prices here are higher than other similar places.

Ambience at Cajun On Wheels is simple, functional, yet striking. Bold shades of red against white deck the place, with warm lights casting a soft glow overhead. In true food truck style, the open kitchen catches the eye with flurries of activity within, while tantalising aromas waft everywhere.

Service at Cajun On Wheels is completely self-service, with ordering, payment, and collection over the counter. However, staff are well equipped to offer advice, and display decent product knowledge. They also clear away empty / dirty tables quickly and efficiently, while exhibiting polite and friendly behaviour.

Food at Cajun On Wheels is focused on American Louisiana style seafood buckets, with the addition of Singaporean inspired sauce flavours. The seafood is fresh, and the sauces are tasty, pairing well enough without overwhelming the more delicate flavours. However, portions are small and not filling. Prices are more expensive than elsewhere, budget about SGD $40 per person for a meal here.

Loved the Fried Squid Original (SGD $7.30), which features a whole, large size squid, coated in a crisp, crunchy golden batter. Nice tender bouncy chew to texture, with good savoury sweet salty flavour. Very satisfiying as an appetizer for sharing. Highly recommended!

With The Incrawdibles With Old Bay Seasoning Boil (SGD $42 for 500g / $79 for 1kg), it features crayfish, corn on the cob, and baby potatoes, boiled then coated in old bay seasoning and thyme. Finished with a spicy sweet sauce. The crayfish has fresh, sweet savoury meat, with a good bite to texture, but the portions are tiny. The sauce has a quick burn on the palate, but fades just as fast. Nice.

The Flexing Mussels & Clams With Herb & Butter (SGD $18) features 250g of fresh meaty blue mussels, 250g of fresh meaty white clams, sweet corn on the cob, starchy boiled baby potatoes, and savoury salty chicken spam fingers. The mussels and clams have good briny salty sweet flavour, with a slight bouncy bite to texture. Coated in a luxurious herb butter gray, which is so delicious. Good!

The Insane Shrimp With Herb & Butter (SGD $33) features 300g of fresh, large prawns, coming clean off the shells and having a sweet savoury flavour. Served with sweet corn on the cob, starchy boiled baby potatoes, and savoury salty chicken spam fingers. Coated in a luxurious herb butter gray, which is so delicious. Good!

The Fish Bites & Torpedo Prawns Set (SGD $12.50) comes with 4 fish bites, 3 breaded torpedo prawns / shrimp, a slice of sweet corn on the cob, starchy boiled baby potatoes, a choice of side dish, and a choice of sauce served on the side. I got the crisp sweet potato fries, and the creamy Cajun Cheese Sauce which is nicely savoury spicy cheesy in taste. The fish bites are tender and meaty, the Alaskan pollock fish having a familiar savoury sweet flavour. The torpedo prawns / shrimp are nicely sweet savoury, very juicy. As an overall dish, it's delicious, but poor value for money as it has more carbohydrates than anything else. Skip this.
