Opening in May 2019, Karaoke Times is a family-friendly, no-frills karaoke concept. Think karaoke on a budget, and you'll have a good idea of what Karaoke Times is about. No food, minimal drinks, with some of the cheapest karaoke rates in Singapore, as they charge by room size, and not by number of people. If you just want to sing your heart out, the Karaoke Times, with its wide range of songs in the catalogue, is the place for you.

Karaoke Times has 3 room sizes - small, medium, and large, as well as a singing hall. The rooms are dimly lit but clean, however, the furnishings are only barely comfortable and the overall space is rather tight. Also, the television screen is fairly close to the seats, making it less clear from the sides of the room. Not a comfortable environment. Prices are very affordable, costing about SGD $5 - $10 per person, for 2 - 3 hours singing time, easily amongst the cheapest karaokes in Singapore. There are no food options here, but a small range of beverages can be purchased over the counter.

The audio equipment at Karaoke Times is average. Being new, it's well-maintained, but the echo effects were a little loud. The cordless microphones are battery operated, and if they run out of power, simply approach the counter to have it replaced. The microphone covers are ugly looking but functional. Song selection is performed in 2 ways, either though the touch screen mounted on the wall, which is easy to navigate; or via your mobile browser which you need to connect to an internal site. Either way, the song navigation interface is user-friendly and clear, but the search function could be more intuitive. The song catalogue is extensive, and more importantly, updated with current songs. Karaoke Times offers songs in 15 different languages, including English, Chinese Mandarin, Malay, Bahasa Indonesian, Tamil, Hindi, Vietnamese, Japanese, Thai, Filipino, and more.

The service at Karaoke Times is completely self-service, where booking and payment is done over the counter, and you also help yourself to beverages. The staff are friendly and carry out tasks quickly. They're quick to replace batteries for microphones, and also carry out detailed briefings for first-time guests. They have no washroom in the premises. My overall experience at Karaoke Times was decent, and they are have the cheapest, most affordable rates I've experienced for a karaoke.
