Opening in March 2021 and operated by the same group behind the Fuel chain of cafes (including Refuel Cafe, Refuel II, and Fuel+ / Fuel Plus), their latest addition to the brand is the Fuel X cafe. Boasting the cleanest, brightest, and most spacious area to date, Fuel X offers a wide range of all-day breakfast and brunch mains, alongside quality bar bites and finger food, making it worthwhile to visit at any time of day.
Ambience at Fuel X is bright, clean, and minimalist. The plain white walls are decked with metallic copper pipes that spell the cafe's name, contrasted by the high ceiling with bright white lights. The sturdy minimalist wooden furnishings, which are decently cushioned and comfortable, lend a simple organised neatness; while shades of white, wood, brown, and beige lend a quiet sense of zen.
Service at Fuel X is partially self-service, with ordering and payment over the counter, though staff will serve orders to your table. They're quick to greet and seat guests, after performing the mandatory vaccination checks, and display cursory product knowledge of the menu, commendable as it boasts over 100 items. I note orders are fulfilled quickly, and staff also clean up efficiently when diners leave.
Food at Fuel X draws on modern American, British English, and Italian cuisine, with a focus on brunch and mains that are healthy, hearty, and wholesome. They serve consistently well-executed dishes using fresh ingredients, achieving standards beyond a typical cafe. With the widest menu offering, Fuel X pushes boundaries with clever combinations of tastes and textures. Portions are large for individuals. Prices are slightly higher than average, but well worth it, budget about SGD $30 per person.

The Beer Stolen Boat Summer Ale (SGD $13) is a quaffable summer ale, brewed by the Trouble Brewing brewery in Singapore. With a mild copper orange colour, this has aromas and tastes of white bread, honey, orange marmalade, and caramel. The body is light, crisp, with an undercurrent of metallic, and holds light grainy fruity sweet flavour with a hint of bitter on the tail. Finish is short and crisp, will appeal to new drinkers mostly.

The Porky Egg Waffle With Sausage (SGD $19.50) is an interesting and tasty breakfast / brunch plate. The fluffy soft buttermilk waffles are so good, with mild grainy sweet flavour. The fluffy creamy scrambled eggs are perfect, lending beautiful eggy sweet notes. The pulled pork is tender with a light chew, and while it sometimes can be a little gamey, the meaty savoury salty sweet flavour it carries is decent overall. Enhanced with a drizzle of thick maple syrup which lends floral sweet flavour, and a long juicy snappy beef sausage which carries bold salty savoury spice notes. Good!

Positioned as a dessert (instead of a beverage), the Caramel Banana Affogato (SGD $10) has 2 creamy scoops of vanilla ice cream, garnished with sliced banana, granola bits, and salted caramel sauce. A shot of espresso is served on the side, which you pour in. I found this rather messy because the tall ice cream leaves little space for pouring, causing the espresso to overflow out of the glass. Overall average in taste, with the various milky nutty sweet toasty fruity bitter flavours being rather separate and distinct, not really coming together. Also, I felt the coffee espresso shot drowned out the taste of the salted caramel, and clashed with the bananas. Could be improved.

Loved the Waffle & Ice Cream Indulgence (SGD $15). The waffles were excellent, served warm, crisp outside, fluffy inside, with an enticing bready sweet smoky flavour. The 2 large scoops of ice cream are creamy and rich, I preferred the chocolate ice cream with its deep chocolatey bitter sweet flavour, over the earl grey ice cream with its light floral earthy sweet milky flavour. Decorated with a mint leaf, and crunchy biscuit crumble for contrast of texture. Highly recommended!
