The Smashed Avocado On Toast has a bad reputation as the iconic exorbitantly-priced cafe dish of choice for hipster millenials, with some drawing the correlations that too much of this dish will result in future poverty (and inability to afford basic housing). Negative perceptions aside, the Smashed Avocado On Toast at its most basic comprises crusty pourous sourdough toast bread with bready sour flavour, spread with rough mashed avocado that's creamy and chunky with vegetal sweet earthy flavour. To enhance the dish, some stalls add crisp toasted rice puffs for a contrast to texture and grainy smoky sweet flavour. Other toppings include cherry tomatoes, ricotta cheese, red onions, spring onions, poached eggs, and more. It's regarded as wholesome and healthy due to being high in unsaturated fats and fibre.
