JWHotdog is a small kiosk in the basement of 313@Somerset mall, selling grilled to order, American style hot dogs and sausages. Opened in October 2014, the menu at JWHotdog may be limited, but at least you're assured of getting a decent snack / takeaway meal!

As a mostly takeaway kiosk, JWHotdog does not have any dine-in seats. They do offer a counter for standing to consume food, and there are shared seats nearby. The big red and yellow truck facade is visually striking, and allows JWHotdog to attract attention from afar. I also like that you can watch staff grill your order with their open kitchen concept.

I find staff to be friendly and proactive, greeting you when you approach the JWHotdog counter. They're able to offer recommendations and advice on customising your hotdog or meal, and are quick are fulfilling orders. There is usually a short waiting time of about 7 - 10 minutes for your order, as JWHotdog prepares each order fresh, totally worth waiting!

As befits its name, JWHotdog specialises in American style hotdogs, and grilled sausages. Their hotdog bun has a soft texture, not too thick and tears off easily, yet still able to hold the sausage, toppings, and condiments well. They offer a choice of 3 good quality sausages; spicy chicken, cheesy pork, or roast beef; and a choice of up to 11 different toppings. Portions are nicely sized for 1 person, and will make you full. The hotdogs / sausages are large, meaty, and juicy, with snappy casings. Prices are comparable to elsewhere, budget about SGD $7 - $9 per person.

The little hotdog truck has spaces for standing around to eat, but nowhere to sit down. The menu is rather limited as well, but at least there is some variety in toppings for the hotdogs.

Their homemade Ice Lemon Tea (SGD $2) is refreshing, has good tea flavour, and is not too sweet. Very drinkable and thirst quenching, I finished this all too fast!

The JW Hot Fries (SGD $4.50) come with a choice of topping; either nacho cheese sauce, fresh homemade tomato salsa, signature beef chili meat sauce, or simply have it plain with a dash of salt. Served piping hot as it's made to order, the fries are thin but crisp, and is a good choice of side dish to pair with hotdogs.

The Nacho Chips (SGD $4.50) are the run-of-the-mill factory processed variety. Choose to have it garnished with either nacho cheese sauce, or homemade tomato salsa. I got the nacho cheese sauce, which made it seem too similar to the movie theatre version. I think the better choice would be the tomato salsa.

Got The Original (SGD $5.50), a spicy chicken sausage, meaty and juicy with mild heat, inside a warm, soft hotdog bun, topped with crunchy diced onions, sweet chili sauce, and tangy yellow mustard sauce. A simple classic, rather satisfiying!

The Coney Dawg (SGD $6.80) is a basic Chili Dog, with a roast beef sausage, meaty and juicy with a nice savoury taste, inside a warm, soft hotdog bun, topped with the house signature beef chili meat sauce, crisp turkey bacon bits, and gooey shredded cheese. Pretty good!

The New Yorker (SGD $6.80) is a basic Sauerkraut Dog, with a cheesy pork sausage, meaty and juicy with a creamy cheese taste, inside a warm, soft hotdog bun, topped with sour and tangy house made sauerkraut, as well as sharp yellow mustard. Rather decent, I like that it isn't overly sour.

The Cut Sausage With Sauteed Onions (SGD $3.80) is a single, grilled sausage (either beef, chicken, or pork), cut into slices, and topped with sweet, savoury caramelised onions. Neat and straight forward, though the lack of condiments means that the salty taste profile is more evident.
