I like Chippy because their food is pretty decent, and portions are filling. But to call it authentic British fare would be stretching it.

While the Chippy menu is based on the traditional British street food, it would be more accurate to say they've placed their own local Singaporean twist on it.

Still, it's tasty and great as a snack... Albeit unhealthy.

Update Mar-2022: Can scarcely believe that Chippy is still going strong after more than 10 years, even somehow surviving through the COVID-19 pandemic. They still operate 2 pure takeaway outlets, and quality of their dishes seems to have actually improved from before. Will be back to visit Chippy for more great British English food!

A refreshing Lemonade (SGD $1), cool with zesty tangy sour sweet flavour, with the lemon notes being fairly strong. Great palate cleanser, especially when paired with their fried snacks.

Loved the Signature B.B.F. British Battered Fish And Chips With Salt & Vinegar (SGD $7), which was served alongside a Tomato Ketchup & Mayonnaise Dip. Pictured is the medium portion, which is suitable either for individuals or for sharing. There's options for a small portion or a large portion too. Here, the medium sized chunks of battered dory fish have a crisp crunch to the batter, while the dory fish meat is clean-tasting, moist, and soft, with bold sweet salty savoury flavour. The thick chunky potato chips are coated with the same excellent batter, crunching lightly to reveal the tender moist potato within, having pleasant starchy savoury salty flavour. Addictively good with salt and malt vinegar seasoning, which lends a salty tangy sour kick. Best eaten quickly when hot and fresh. Highly recommended!
